Still remember when that block was nothing but the old caltrans bldg, with a concrete planter box along 2nd that had a railing installed on it to prevent ppl from sitting on it. And a hole in the wall bldg along 1st St.
Not a good backdrop or foreground to city hall, or the civic ctr in general.
I recall several yrs ago hearing about some ppl living in your bldg complaining about the new LAPD hdqrts being planned for the site across the street. Seems like the devlpt ended up nicer than what used to be there, or nicer than what might have been put there.
Your update came just in time. Otherwise this thread is more likely to keep dying out, even more so since the current economy means groundbreaking of new devlpt is not likely to happen anytime soon. And unless ppl like setting themselves up for dissapointment, new proposals have to be treated with alot of skepticism or as though they never were publicized to begin with.
Ex: Remember the glass tower proj across from Elleven? That was supposed to be one of the few new proposals most likely to breakground in the near future----which now is becoming the distant past. As of today? Nothing. The glass tower still is just a parking lot.
It also doesn't help that most ppl posting here, including me, don't live in the hood. So we----&, yes, I'm guilty of this too----can't offer first hand accounts of what's going on in DT. That means instead of talking about visiting some new restaurant or condo or apt, or the monthly art walk, or an event at LA live, & how busy it was (or wasn't), & how good it was (or wasn't), or how many ppl have bought or rented in some bldg, we end up having to write about projs that may never, or probably never will, see the light of day, or, worse, things that really are just OT.
