It was done by William Brownridge for Knowlton Realty in 1979. I will post it in a bit.

Sorry for the crappy quality.

THAT'S THE ONE I WAS LOOKING FOR
Thanks so much for finding and posting (very satisfying to see it again - even if it is blurry).

Here is an old rendering I did that shows what could have been, had all the big proposals from the '80s gone through, including the original design for Banker's Hall. I also threw in the Bow for comparison.

Thanks also CAD - very cool.
Man I wish Calgary could break the 70 storey barrier (or even the 60 storey)

Too many shadow-nazis, and ill conceived do-gooders for 800' to 900' to happen. Conservative design, architects and companies play a big part in what gets built also. Look at what the bow and few others could have been!!

I need a new rendering to cheer me up C-A-D (maybe a twilight view).

I don't get too broken up over it...I've always considered 50 storeys to be the line that separates the men from the boys. After that it's all about the quality - and I'd take a 58-storey Bow over a 72-storey FCP or a 68-storey Scotia Plaza any day.

Besides, I'm from Ottawa, and compared to there Calgary is freaking Coruscant.

Well there's nothing wrong with the 58 story Bow (as bulky as it is), but what the hell is wrong with a 60-70 story building or 2 or 3? Answer; Nothing wrong with it at all!

I prefer not to worry about the number of storeys...Its the height that really makes a difference. Shangri La in Vancouver has 60 storeys, but isn't even as tall as Bankers Hall.

Actually, Shangri-la is 13 ft taller than Bankers Hall, but I agree with your point.

Well - if you include SRL's "spire" which doesn't appear on the diagrams that I could see.
Roof height they are almost exactly equal (SRL=196.9m & BH=197m).
According to this website anyway.

For the record I also agree with Doug's point about the actual height being more important than the # of storeys.

I've got a question... On Wikipedia it lists the Alberta Boots site, as a high-rise proposal but I've never heard of the project or seen any renderings... Could somebody clear this up? Thanks...

Calgary City News' Twitter Feed is using a background image that looks familiar. Is that CtrlAltDel's work? Do they have permission?
