The Density people, the DENSITY!!!
I have this recent book of Chicago From Above, and that whole area is simply a golf course, you can see AON and Prudential 2 in their entirety from base to the top from the Navy Peir. Not the case anymore, in fact you can only see the top of Prudential 2 these days. Great to see my favorite city growing (skyscraper-wise) at such a rate.

...The move to 225 N. Columbus Drive Suite 100 from its temporary facilities at 303 E. Wacker Drive will take place April 23-25.

Magellan's new headquarters will occupy approximately half of the 55,000 square feet of office space included in the tower designed by a Studio/Gang Architects team headed by Jeanne Gang.

The 28,000-square-foot facility, designed by Magellan affiliate Loewenberg Architects, includes second floor offices for Magellan and affiliates Joel M. Carlins & Associates, attorneys; NNP Residential, property management and leasing; and Loewenberg Architects and first floor offices for Titan Commercial, commercial real estate.

I have that book as well. Needless to say it would be a good idea for them to go around in about six months and snap some shots as it will look incredibility different. By then all the major projects should be just about done for the time being. I would love if they took photos of the same locations so one could do a before and after but I doubt they would.

If I had know you would make one I would have waited to include it in the update video. Oh well in May there will be the next so i put them in then. And I think the base looks pretty awesome compared to the ones of many other buildings in the Area.

Originally, I wasn't too thrilled about Aqua's base and pool podium. But the developers are making some nice touches, such as the wavy planters, the ceilings of the overhangs, etc..

I also predict that the Shore Club is going to be a big hit in Chicago. I hope it remains private/exclusive.

Put my vote into the "like the base" column. To me, removing the construction barriers had a pretty significant impact on reducing the oppressive flat wall effect that had been going on. There is some really great subtle details going on there.

And kudos EB for the great update again... I spent a good amount of time refreshing my browser last night trying to make sure I didn't miss any of the sets.

- The lighting on the lip of the base is a huge improvement, but not nearly enough to save it.

- I can't stand the tacky planters. Can't wait to see how they post-rationalize those - "Oh, it's about framing views of the oncoming traffic!"

- Love the "standards."

- Hope they do something about those PVC drains mucking up the spiral stair, and fast.

- Great update EarlyBuyer.

Honte, I don't see any PVC drains? I think what you are seeing is light fixtures that jut out into the center of the stairs and appear to be PVC drains.

I still love the base and see absolutely nothing wrong with or "oppressive" about it... Personally I am attracted to overhangs when I am walking on the street, I think its because they are preferable places to walk during Chicago's bad weather (rain and snow) and during its good weather (scalding hot sunny summer days)...

What were they thinking with that base? It looks like some crappy university architecture from the 60s or 70s imo. You look up at the tower and you are like, WOW and then the base looks like a terd.
