Nice photos guys!!!!!

I was quite impressed actually.

Starting with the overall station design. Very clean and sleek. And the signage was quite clear, and sufficient. I particularly like the sign outside the station that points you towards destinations and also lists how far away they are. But I thought it seemed weird how they had to label a certain area as the "Designated Waiting Area".

I can't believe I'm saying this, but the platform length was sufficient. There's quite a bit of space I must say, and even more so with an additional 10-metres in the future. Width was also sufficient.

That's right. I'll repeat what I said: platform lenghts are sufficient.

As for the trains, they were better than I had hoped for. Quite spacious. I feel indifferent about them, but I still think they should have given the train a proper paint job and the bars inside could have been arranged with more thought. And specifically about the bars, I very much dislike the whole shiny thing going on with them. Couldn't they have installed dull ones?

One last thing, they were showing a virtual 3D video of the line and I saw a glimpse of a Downtown station's platform...not sure exactly which one. I'm not sure if the video was accurate, but it showed the platform having 70's miniature white tiling on the walls and floor....it looked extremely retro, something like out of NYC.

the skytrain does that too remember its just so people know where to stand in a station if they dont feel safe cause normally there are cameras aimed at these spots for safety

very unimpressed with the stations, the look of richmond, and the signs.

the stations are wood looking boards with glasses, that's basically yet. Nothing looks technological or beautiful. The graphic designs are not very attractive. And richmond, basically a suburb that somehow is said to be a city. The whole feel of richmond makes me feel like a farmer, hahaha...

dont critisize me for being realistic and honest...hahaha

I can't help but feel that I need to pick up a tool and start digging around somewhere...

I hate uploading photos. Anyways, my thoughts about the station: I was a little underwhelmed. The station itself was okay... it was clean... but that was it. The wood, I have to say, looked beautiful. If I had a choice though, I would prefer Rupert station to replace this.

First of all, our signs are never consistent. We now have three types of station signs: Expo Line, Millennium Line, and Canada Line. If you go look back at the photos, notice the signs at the look quite different from the Millennium Line ones. I don't understand why... WHY?! With regards to the DWA sign, I believe it's a requirement. Actually, our current stations have that sign, except it's much smaller.

The elevator felt a little claustrophobic... I think it's those "lines" on the glass that made it feel bad.

The platform displays, I have to say, are much better. They are large and they have the potential to display a lot more information.

It does, but the sign was massive....it's where SkyTrain has those massive overhead banners with the station names.

One more thing, I stand by on what I've said about the seats....they're definitely not vandal resistant at all.

With regards to the vehicles themselves, they are much better than I expected. They seem very dark and ugly in the photos, but it's much better in person: I promise. It feels incredibly open... just until you reach the articulation joint.

I wish the seats weren't white: I wish they were the ones that are being used in the newer MK IIs. They feel alright... no different than the bus ones imo.

The floors were VERY slippery... I'm not sure if it's my converse shoes... or it's because it's new... I just hope they would be less slippery especially when it rains.

The handle bars, like Mr. X said, were ugly. I wish they were dull as well... and all yellow. I also wish they weren't that shade of yellow... TransLink uses a darker more warm tone of yellow.

LOL. Well, going into the station I think I had very low expectations.....which is why, in the end I actually liked it.

I forgot about consistency of signage, yea I see what you mean. It's a shame they didn't follow what the other lines did.

Same thoughts on the DWA sign, did it have to be so big? And you kinda had to look up to see it, it should've been eye level.

The elevator, well was an elevator. I'm glad they used glass walls.

Anyhow, the comments were generally quite positive. I even heard some grannies saying how impressed they were, and one was like "I'm taking this everyday...going to T&T...something something...it'll be so convenient."

LMAO it would probably be just this station. I'm sure other stations like Aberdeen... the elevator would have felt more open.

I noticed that the glass wasn't clear clear though... it had a slight blue tinge to it. Maybe it's just me...

Fixed!

I am guessing that for some reason they covered over "Exit" with a "Way Out" sticker for some reason. They could have at least tried to match the color.

Anyway, great pictures everyone. Thank you.

The station looks really good, especially the wood roof; the trains are spacious and modern, but I still dislike the paint scheme; the way finding and signs are good, but the font should be larger and I wish there was some consistency with the M-Line signs, which I think have a lot more "punch" and visibility.

ETA: Forgot to ask, is there any reason why the front glass at Landsdowne is frosted? Will the other stations be completed this way? It's very curious.

to the think about the joint being so tight
its not all that surprising unlike skytrain this like only has one real turn to it and its a big wide one
where skytrain zig zags all over the place needing more room to turn

This photo reminds me of Taipei. I think Richmond and Taipei will have a lot in common (elevated transit, midrises everywhere) as the area becomes more dense.

I have always said Richmond has a strong Asian feel to it, and all these new towers and the Canada line will add to it. But don't tell that to MonkeyRonnin, the guy pretty much said that i and all my Asian friends am wrong for thinking so and he knows more about the feel of Richmond than i do even though he admits he has never been in Richmond and has only spent one week of his life in Vancouver.

I like Richmond because it has a very modern feeling to it. It also seems to have the most video billboards and fun signage of any city in Vancouver. I just feel it has a great vibe. Can't wait for the night market!

Awesome, thanks for the pics! I agre it does look much more spacious than I thought.

lol @ "way out" - why not just put exit?

Doesn't everybody love the new "action shot" wheelchair signs? Instead of just sitting there, the little guy is wheeling at full speed - in the elevator pic it looks like he is going to ram into the guy pressing the button.

I totally agree on the point of consistent signage.

Guys, keep posting your photos!!! But, if you can maybe limit it to like 15-20 photos per post....we don't wanna end up with like 500 photos all in one page, I think my computer would go bust.

Anyhow, my first batch of photos are uploaded!

I also have to say that the ProTransBC attendant uniforms look far better and stylish than the SkyTrain uniforms.

I heard taipei is very modern, from somebody from la. but then again, la is still very suburban. richmond isn't nearly as dense as taipei, i wonder how it will ever resemble taipei if the density is not there.
