I kinda like the trees the way they are...does every street tree have to look like a freakin' lollypop?
There is a question that is sometimes asked in a neurological exam: "Can you explain the difference between a bush and a tree?" It tests the ability to think subjectively.
Street tree don't have to look like lollipops, but I prefer they look like trees.
About the trees, I meant to point out that they planted different varieties on Mission and Beale/Fremont (which have the same type). I don't know if this was directed by the city, but I like that there is some diversity.

Cool vantage point. Was that shot Sunday afternoon? I've never seen that corner so deserted before. I walk through it every week day and there are always about a dozen people crossing one way or another. I guess my weekday neighborhood is rather sleepy on the weekend.

It was the weekend, but I don't recall which day. It is much quieter on the weekend, but that shot looks particularly vacant. I assume that will change a bit when the place opens for business.
Cheap fricking wooden tree supports. I give 'em a month before the wind blows 'em over. Then we'll see if anybody cares in the high rent district and straightens 'em back up (in "quality" buildings they use deeply-driven metal poles to start with).
Wow Dave, your first picture looks like it belongs on a brochure marketing Millennium. I love how the tower glass reflects the sun's visible rays.

Silly me. The changing signage noted above was just practicing to see how it looked. They now have swank and (presumably) permanent signage bolted to the building, at least on the Mission Street side.
The new lighting through the roof screen looks great and really shows up! It balances the two very bright red lights on the uppermost opposite corners that have been blinking simultaneously at night for some time now. I noticed months ago that you can see those red lights when driving out of the Caldacot Tunnel westbound on Highway 24.
One Rincon Hill needs brighter red lights on its four corners; they are very subtle and remain on constantly without blinking. As a result, that tower is much harder to see at night than the Millennium Tower.
now that rn74 is open, is this technically "finished" finally? havent been around there recently to see if all the finishing touches have gone up on the exterior.
For all intents and purposes, it's done. I'm sure there is finishing work happening on some floors, but everything around the base and public areas seems to be finished. And owners can now move in. This, Infinity, Blu, ORH should all be moved to the completed section.

A few shots from today. The building is beautiful from afar, but the restaurant has relatively little foot traffic, the "public" area next to the restaurant is generally deserted, and what I assume was supposed to be retail is now the sales office. It is far from an inviting block from a pedestrian perspective. However, the trees are growing nicely. This appears done, so it probably should be moved out of the construction section.
