some more stuff from the Vancouver Sun

from http://www.vancouversun.com/Life/Gallery+ride+Canada+Line/1436738/story.html

I'm wondering how those Canada Line signs will turn out. They seem pretty useless right now, but that'll probably change

As someone who only rode the Skytrain test section along Terminal Ave. as a kid, here's a silly question:

If one takes the Canada Line from Waterfront station to either YVR or Richmond, are there going to be dedicated trains to both YVR and Richmond from Waterfront station???

Or will there be a single default destination with the other destination requiring disembarking at the Canada Line interchange station near the River Rock Casino???

The trains will alternate YVR, then Richmond, etc. The displays at the front of the train and on the platform will indicate the destination - so either you wait for the appropriate train at your boarding station or you transfer somewhere down the line.

I'm surprised Toronto picked up on the story.

Yes, well obviously, I didn't really think the platforms were 1m wide.

Thank god they went with all front/back seating. The inward facing seats always seem to be the last taken.

As heard on the video, it looks like the Expo Line extension will use 104th Avenue, 152nd Street, and Fraser Highway. They mentioned something about tunneling.

Looks like there needs to be better handrails to hold on to.

The video was pretty cool, but the timing of the frames creates a hypnotic strobe effect, especially just before in goes above grade.

I managed to listen to the whole video and they were talking about how if they can't get the Evergreen line going, they will be moving on to the Surrey extension ASAP...and that there is little in the way in terms of building it except for one street (forgot the name); which will have major disruptions. Likewise, they were talking about how hard it will be to integrate the Millenium line extension to UBC? And another one as well? If someone wants to listen to them ramble on for 30 mins, you can get the details.

Huh, where in the video was this? I watched large parts of it and didn't hear anything about any other lines. Maybe I just picked the wrong spots to watch >.>"

One thing I find funny about this video is how you hear people going, "is this Richmond now?" after they cross over the river. Don't they know anything about local geography?

Checkout the video around 25:10 and on and you'll hear them talk about the Evergreen and Surrey lines.

Haha funny but true. I think most people in general don't give two shits about local geography unless they Arive or B:are on this site.
