Thankfully they did, maybe now we can get back to news about new developments, new establishments taking spaces in new developments etc etc, and the rancor will end . So any news on the restaurants they have attracted for the 180 Peachtree(old Macy's) space?

I'm not sure what a "rancor" is but you're right.

Didnt know there were restaurants for 180. I'm still looking foward to Viewpoint, the 4 at 1010, & whatever's gonna be at the Atlantic - hopefully something with an art-deco theme.

This is a Rancor:

Also, because sometimes people can't do simple things: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/rancor

And how exactly can a store be art-deco themed?

I agree that there is not enough track laid and that that problem is not MARTA's fault, but please tell me what stations you've visited that you consider "not dirty."

I travel from Dunwoody to Decateur. Perhaps our commutes do not overlap.

Airport, Peachtree Center, Midtown, Lindbergh, Buckhead

Those are the only ones I really ever use....but they are all always clean.

So, in your opinion, anything less than turds lining transit stations and puddle of piss equal cleanliness? The lack of rats and shit are a standard of cleanliness?

Since it is illegal to take pictures on MARTA property without prior written permission, perhaps I should put in some requests and show eveyone what I'm talking about.

We don't use the same stations. Decatur is filthy, so are Five Points and Peachtree Center.

The lack of shit shouldn't be the standard. It is obvious no one has even attempted to clean stations like Five Points and Decatur. How do you epect to attract new riders when your stations are caked with grime?

Of the stations I use regularly (Lindbergh, Arts Center, Midtown, North, Civic, Ptree Center, 5P, GSU, MLK, IP/Rtown, Decatur, Airport, CNN/Philips) I would consider every one of them clean by subway station standards. It's a train station, not a restaurant or a bedroom. Every station I just listed is, IMO, 10 times cleaner than the cleanest station in NYC (I know those are older and more numerous, but MARTA stations are so clean comparatively.) I feel like anyone complaining about the uncleanliness at these stations is a little overly sensitive about their surroundings. I've never once had my experience in the MARTA system negatively affected by cleanliness or lack thereof (ok, so a woman vomited on the tracks at Civic Center late one night. I'll give you that, but, hey, it happens )

MARTA is an awesome system. Some stations are not well maintained, however. Garnett is dingy and frequently trashed out, and Five Points is hardly a flagship.

On MARTA N9, N10 AND N11 are nice. N11 has some pretty sweet art too. It looks like giant viruses coming out of the concrete. I cant remember which station has the ant sculptures. That's nice too.

ls1z28chris, I suppose I should have said those conditions make MARTA comparatively clean. I think the 5 points and Peachtree Center stations, grimey as they are, still seem less grimey than the streetscapes above them.

First of all, i didnt actually ASK for a definition of "rancor" so you have no reason to tell me to get a dictionary.

Second, i still dont know what the heck that monster thing has to do with the conversations we previously had.

Third, have you NEVER heard of art-deco interiors??? If not - LOOK IT UP, i'm not gonna do it for you as you did for me so unnecessarily & sarchastically.

Afl-cio

I was just reading in the Spire thread that the AFL-CIO is considering using its Investment Trust to help finance Spire construction. It would provide several thousand construction jobs and "one million paydays" for the workers. They've already invested over a billion $$$ that way, and it makes remarkable sense to me, especially considering they're sitting on a cool $2B right now. If an AFL-CIO affiliate in Atlanta could push the idea of investing in constructing 50 AP, they'd be creating jobs, improving the local economy, and we'd get a shiny new tower downtown. Oh yeah...don't forget the increased tax revenue it would generate.

By the way, "Rancor" looks like my ex-wife's divorce lawyer, but with less drool.

Rancor Simpson: "Mmmmmm...arms."

I didn't ask for an argument. You said you wanted a store that was "art-deco themed." I understand the idea of art deco interiors (though I doubt highly that Novare would ever be able to pull one off successfully)....I just thought you wanted a store that was selling art deco stuff or something, which didn't make any sense. I suppose it's a difference in theme versus style, which, architecturally speaking, are two very different things.

Unfortunately, I can only think of a handful of buildings in the last 40 years that have been successful at recreating good "art deco." The Hearst Tower in Charlotte comes to mind, although it still uses some playful modern touches:

Spelling's a bitch these days, huh?

Any word on tenants for the office building of 12th & Midtown?
Word on the street is the condos in the Lowe's tower are going to be half and full floors, starting around $1million... good luck with that price point!

That's in Charlotte? What a cool building, especially the entrance.

The old Siemens bldg at 17th & Northside is completely demolished except for 1 curved window at the corner. It was the only thing there yesterday morning, and it was still standing today at noon. It reminds me of the Hank Aaron wall section of Fulton Co Stadium that they left intact when the Ted was built. I doubt there's any particular meaning to that window...it just seems strange that they've demolished the entire gigantic building in a week or two, yet they left this one lonely window sticking out of the ground on the corner. Maybe it's the corner office where some big Siemens deal was signed, and they're gonna preserve it. Um...or not.

How awesome would it have been to have that in Atlanta. Somewhere around Bank of America maybe.....sigh. On another note, why the HELL are people so rude to each other in here? WTF? Where is the freakin love?

That building would be fantastic in the Bank of America fox theater area. Maybe now that that homeless shelter will be leaving that area "SONO" can actually become a bona fide neighborhood.
Im chalking the testiness to the fact there isn't any news about projects the way there was even a year ago. So people are irritated by that and thus its being expelled in a unpleasant way

I LOVE that building from that lower angle. Atlantic isn't THAT much art deco but it's trying to pull off the overall look.

But i was referring to a restaurant (not store) - hoping that whatever they put there would have an art deco theme, inside. That way it could sort of match what's on the outside. Besides there arent too many buildings with art deco in ATL.
