So I haven't really been working on Staunton as much as I used to, I'm adding lowrises to Fort Staunton but heres something I wipped out today:

AmeriBank Center

As part of the new millennium revival of the West End of Downtown, three large glassy skyscrapers were erected by Galcorp Plaza and the Garden State Building. The first was the Ameribank Center. Construction started summer 2001, originally planned at 61 stories, the project went on hold after 9/11, redesigned, and shortened to 46 stories. The building opened in winter 2003, it's anchor tenant; Ameribank. The AmeriBank Center holds the distinction of being the first major skyscraper to be constructed in Staunton since the early 1990's.

It was modeled after a building, can anyone guess it?

Yeah 2003, so obviously Staunton is no longer set in 1998, it is now set in 2006, the year Staunton was born. In 2006 Staunton is going through its 5th year with corrupt conservative Mayor Richard "Dick" Murdoch after the assassination of former liberal Mayor Jimmy Marsh in spring 2002. The city is experiencing a mass exodus of people to the suburbs since crime levels skyrocketed after the election as Murdoch immediately lifted the successful yet unpopular strict gun laws set by Marsh throughout the early 1990's.

Ameribank looks much like something i would like to pull off and is my new fav.
It looks like a mix of Chifley/Ernst & Young/World tower - Sydney

I like when you feed us Staunton like this. I can keep up.

i love the update, but I do wish you would get around to Staunton more often. It's such a great city and it saddens me to see it sit without an update, sometimes for a month, maybe less. but still, what happened to the old fire, staunton is one of the only cities that's still around from the old crop.

I guess I'm just not that into Staunton, I'm very satisfied with New Staunton it's turning out great, but the daily updates Staunton was known for won't be back for a while, sketchup just sucks too much time out of your life. But thanks for the comments Wrightguy I always appreciate reading them!

One NorthernStar Plaza

In 2002 NorthernStar Energy planned to move all its offices into one large downtown headquarters. The 62 story, 833 foot building started construction in 2003 with the name One Streamline Square, but was renamed when NorthernStar became the Anchor Tenant. The building opened January 2006. The center of the building is said to represent a boat, this glassy spine is actually a large 62 story public atrium.

It's not easy being a skyscraper directly adjacent to One Galcorp Plaza. Because your under the largest building in the city your prominence is reduced greatly as its bulk completely swallows the surrounding skyline space. One NorthernStar Plaza is the 9th tallest building in the city soaring 833 feet into the sky. Despite its height it is completlely blocked from the South and generally overlooked from the North as One Galcorp Plaza lurks behind it. It can be said that it is the least known of the city's top ten, being generally new and thinner than most downtown buildings its often overlooked.

I'm sure someone can guess what building I based this one off of, I didn't do a good job of making it more creative.

Plus a 62 story glass atrium would be one hell of sight.

I think if you threw in some setbacks on the Oil & Gas based one itd look alot better/less like the real thing.

Staunton would be the 4th largest city in the country directly behind Chicago at 2.7 million people with a metropolitan area of over 7 million people, again ranking 4th behind Chicagoland.

So we have the final of the three:

One Heart Plaza

At 636 feet, 50 stories, One Heart Plaza is the shortest of the cluster but has two more floors than the AmeriBank Center, developers added "One" to "Heart Plaza" in hope of more tenants. It was constructed between 2002 - 2004. It's anchor tenant is Heart Insurance, which explains the large Heart Logos that adorn the top of the building. At the building's two plazas are two large hearts, which have since become a Staunton Tourist Attraction. Heart shares the block with NorthernStar, the two can be called siblings as NorthernStar's design compliments Heart's football shape. The two were supposed to be named 1 & 2 Streamline Square but only NorthernStar is addressed by 1 Streamline Square, despite it being completed after Heart.

Austin got what NorthernStar was based off of, the Gas Company Building in Los Angeles, can anyone get this one, it should be hella easy as its almost an exact copy.

Nobody seems to have gotten what the Ameribank Center was based off of?

AmeriBank shares a large block with two smaller buildings; the NorthCorp Financial Building and Gunman Technologies Buildings. Northcorp, a Denver-based financial company, was completed in 1981 and Gunman, a large Las Vegas-based military/aerospace/industrial compaly, was completed in 1963.

The two buildings seem rather unappealing but are both some of Downtown's most sought after pieces of real estate, being located in the center of upper downtown and right on United American Avenue.

Prepare to see an aerial later tonight!!!?! haha

Pat, you are texture king! You're buildings look so realistic and you make it look so simple! But the truth is that textures are hard! Is AmeriBank based off the Georgia Pacific Tower is Georgia? The GE Building in NY? Not really sure!

But anyways, I love One Heart Plaza! It's one of my favorite buildings of Stanton already. I could see it in La Defense or in Canary Wharf. It's so bulky and the windows look tiny on the sides! It's simply amazing! Please so give up more shots of this building!

An areal would be amazing btw.

Nice to see Staunton is still alive! Great batch of buildings too - although none of them becomes my favorite building in Staunton - most of them are too postmodern for that.

Textures are hard, I agree. Inspired by Staunton, I tried to start a photorealistic texture city, but I didn't have the skills, so it ended before it started.

Ameribank= Boeing HQ Chicago
One NorthernStar Plaza= Oil and Gas LA
and Ill bet Gunnman=Grumman, since there both military companies.

Nothing new, but a quick opinion, I've been thinking of renaming the Garden State Building, its just such a ripoff.

I was thinking, New York was once New Amsterdam, so Staunton was once New Bordeaux, so I'll name the Garden State Building the Bordeaux Building from its French Founders. As New York was named after York, North Yorkshire, Staunton was named after Staunton, Gloucestershire. Luckily Staunton is an English name, although I don't think I'll be calling it New Staunton.

What do you guys think? Any other suggestions? I'd love to hear them.

And what about the five Burroughs: Staunton, Jefferson, Ganton, Brighton, and Hamilton, do you guys think they sound pretty legit for Staunton? All the Burroughs' names are also English cities, so I guess thats pretty realistic, except Jefferson, but I guess in some point in the 1700's the burrough was renamed Jefferson.

And another boring fact, Staunton was settled in 1669, w00t.

think brighton is the odd one out,sounds too seaside.london has some good bourough names like surbiton,kingston,hampton,,brixton,holloway,
toothing bec,elephant and castle,barking,islington,crikelwood,ealing,teddington,peckham

i could go on forever....

islington tower good name for building..
