Jeez dude, are bricks in the north made of heroin or something?

That's like, 700$ dollars in sets!

BrickBash 2009, Ann Arbor, Michigan

A free LEGO show called Brickbash was held in Ann Arbor, Michigan on March 21. While there were LEGO creations of all types there, two displays had skylines.

1. A modest Michigan Lego Train Club layout:

The white building is a model of Detroit's Dime Building by another club member named Chris. Most of the buildings on the right side of the layout are mine.

2. Spencer (JSR)s line up of all of his completed micro-scale skyscrapers:

I took both photos: all of my Brickbash images on flickr

I'll have to pay you a visit one of these days. So that we can play with Lego.

Here you go:

I took this picture.

Also if you use the link in my previous post, my flickr account has additional images and higher resolution versions of the photos are available.

Looks like the top is leaning a bit. I think the Eiffel Tower is more impressive. That would be a very difficult structure to re-create in Lego at that scale but he has done a very good job of it.

Yep, the top of the tower above the main deck is only attached at a single stud. I didn't do a good job of insuring it was straight when that particular photo was taken.

Much better.

It would be cool if you put a sky mural on that wall to make the photos a bit more realistic. I have to find a blue backdrop for my little lego city. (It's nothing spectacular so don't get your hopes up.)

The newest sets in the Lego Architecture line have been recently unveiled. They're not skyscrapers this time around, but rather a pair of Frank Lloyd Wright masterpieces: Guggenheim Museum and Fallingwater.

I'm especially digging that Fallingwater model

For those living in the Chicago area with an interest in both Lego and architecture, the annual Brickworld Lego-fan convention is being held from June 18th through June 21st in Wheeling Illinois. Hours for the public viewing are held on Saturday (10am-4pm) and Sunday (10am-3pm).

I will have my thirteen microscale scale Lego skyscrapers on display.

In addition there will be large scale skyscraper models by Adam Reed Tucker (the event co-founder and the creative force behind the Lego Architecture product line) and several world famous landmarks by Arthur Gugick, all recreated from thousands of Lego bricks.

Click the logo above to go to the event website for all the details.

I built a little "city" a few months ago when I was bored and it has since been sitting in the living room collecting dust. Yesterday I was bored again and took pictures of the few buildings that don't look like crap.

The tallest building is based on the Sears Tower.

A short glass building with setbacks, obviously a condo.

This is based on whichever building that looks like this that you decide it is based on.

A shot of the upper half of the previous building.

The tallest, inspired by the Sears Tower

The top of the building. A giant sheet of paper is overcast skies.

Portrait orientation of the previous photo.

Based on Phillip Johnson's AT&T Tower in New York and any one of Mies' monolithic black boxes.

Filler. I have lots, but this is the only one that is convincingly building shaped.

The cream of the crop, together on my little podium thing.

Aerials.
