yeah! Austin seems to be a very interesting and complete city, from the 4 cities i visited on that trip, San Antonio, Austin, Dallas and McAllen, it seems to be the most interesting city and the nicer one, but i think Dallas is bigger isnt it? Anyway, i hope i can go back there soon, as a lot of people say it's a cool city as well...

Why did you go to McAllen? Dallas Ft. Worth is about the biggest sprawling wreck in the world. Much much bigger than Austin. But Austin has a much nicer downtown than Dallas.

i went with a friend to see some excavators, those where in dallas and they had 2 more in McAllen, and thats why we move there...
Yeah, Dallas is so sprawl, but San Antonio as well, i stayed in the San Marcos area and its about 45 minutes or so to the downtown, and if u go to the other side, La Cantera, its almost the same time... so sprawl..
And yeah, Austin's downtown seems more friendly than the others, very nice...

first one is really nice as well...
looking at that street, is someone complaining about the number of cars that this and others developments are going to bring to the downtown? as im seeing this street is a bit narrow, is 2 lane tho, but probably here there could be somepeople complaining about this issue...

That's the 2nd Street retail district. About 5-6 years ago, the city reconfigured a 2-3? block section of the street, adding wider sidewalks, landscaping, in-line parking and narrowing the roadway (hence slowing down thru traffic, etc.). This was an effort to make the corridor more pedestrian friendly (an extension of the "Great Streets" program). I would have to say it worked.

Two views from my neighborhood from today. The Austonian is definitely above 400 feet now, taller than Ashton.

I took this one on the sidewalk right next to one house's backyard. Their fence wraps around the side of the house to the front. If they were to build some loft/treehouse, they'd have a decent view of downtown from it.

Please excuse the haziness of these. The fires in North Texas were blowing smoke down to Austin that day.

Above the 40th floor now. Surely it's the 3rd tallest in the city.

2 minutes from my house by bicycle.

I took this one from behind Crockett High School at the back of Garrison Park next to the baseball fields. You can see 360 too, though it's hard to see it and Frost since they don't stick up much. But the crane for The Austonian was easily visible. The building should stick up here and be quite noticeable.
