Commercial Drive has them too. Really, our screens are placed in very good locations as they don't overpower the design of the station platforms.

As someone who is legally blind I am unable to read the small font on those displays for info related to transit, as it is, with the old displays, I had to be right beside them to read them.

and why don't they show the time? the old signs flashed it for a few seconds every 5 minutes and the new signs dont have it at all. people need to know the time to plan bus connections, among other things, especially if youre a creative bus rider like me.

They aren't removing the old displays, are they?

IIRC, this is more like a revenue generator for Translink.
As for the time, I don't know about you but I have at least 3 places to get the time from: watch, mp3 player, and cell phone.

So I don't see the big deal...think of the screens as just a new form of advertising.

I wonder how much longer until they get some retail near the entrance to the Brentwood station. Some remediation crews were there several weeks ago working on the site.. though it's been abandoned for quite a while. I guess it's pretty badly contaminated.

i don't have a watch, the time on my mp3 is completely wrong and it re-sets itself whenever i take the battery out. i forget my cell at home on average 2 days a week. so really its my own fault but translink isn't helping... i mean how hard would it be to have a clock here and there just for reference

could do, although time is more or less irrelevant on a bike. theres no transfer points or 30 min frequency bus routes to worry about.

for example the other day i had to go from burnaby mountain to lonsdale/esplanade. there are a few ways you can go, its possible to make good time on transit but every transfer is time sensitive... so heres my options.

(1) 135/28/239

(2) 135/seabus

(3) 145/millennium/expo/seabus

all of these should technically be possible in 60 minutes but it could potentially take 90. deciding what route to take depends on knowing exactly what time it is, as well as knowing the system well enough (bus frequencies etc)... but heres what i did instead. i rode my bike.

mountain parkway/hastings/boundary/2nd narrows/low levels

it took 40 mins. i gave my self 65 mins to be safe, got a coffee and chilled once i got there. i had no reason to look at the time until i got there cause i knew i was making good time. no flats or detours.

i cant believe i just typed that all out

Do the Skytrain stations have a distinct logo at the entrances? Like one that everyone would understand as being a "metro station". Myself, I have never notcied such a thing.

I wonder if the new CanadaLine will have one?

The pillars that mark entrances to the old Expo Line stations bear the old logo - I think they bear just the word "SkyTrain" without the swirl that was introduced with the Millennium Line.

Hopefully they use the blue/yellow 'T' roundel we saw in those renders a while back and be implemented on the whole system, including Canada Line.

Even if one has a watch/mp3/ipod/phone, they aren't necessarily accurate to translink time.

Every station should have a clock... especially at the RAV line... where frequency will be less.

Well I was at Richmond-Brighouse STN and I did see the platform sign on... it had the Canada Line logo (like how SkyTrain has the SkyTrain logo on the M-Line) with the time beside it.

I actually adjusted most of my clocks in the house to fit with TransLink time XD

Skytrain has nothing like what you'd see for other metros in the world. I can't think of a worse attempt at signage. No distinctive logo or anything, nothing posted out on the sidewalk for people to see - I'm thinking of Granville Station. With the Canada Line coming to completion, they should make a better effort on this.

Thank you! I'm not the only one that thinks this way.

Our signage is so damn inconsistent too! I don't even care about the logo... but at least have the same type of signs at every station... look at the new Granville Station Entrance: it looks like a fusion of the Millennium Line signs with the Expo Line ones.

We are even missing signs. To this date, we don't even have signs at Commercial Drive STN showing which train goes where!

I'm sure the Canada Line signs will look a little different from everywhere else... adding to the confusion. Let's be consistent from now on... paint the damn trains the same livery, redo the signs for all stations (if not, make it like the M-Line ones), etc.

the pender street entrance is good

but the granville street one just looks like an entrance to the bay if you are a random tourist its easy to walk past

the rest really don't need much signage as they are pretty obvious

Tons of new pictures and videos of the old trolleys (painted in new colours) on the Mendoza trolley blog
