nice looking building! Who's gonna be in the tower? Will it just be empty for awhile?

Wachovia had secured tenants to occupy half the building, and Wachovia was going to use the other half. Duke Energy initially had planned to lease about 240,000 square feet. Duke, along and Wake Forest Babcock School of Law and several smaller firms all together were leasing half the building. Duke has now upped their lease to 500,000 square feet. Wells Fargo has stated they will occupy the building, but have yet to determine how much space they will use. While the building will be called "Duke Energy Center," Wells will still be owner of the building at this time.

So Wells Fargo will keep the name "Wachovia"?

It's a bit less dramatic than I expected but I still love it and think its and excellent addition to the skyline, cant wait to see how the top turns out.

I was in Charlotte about 4 years ago and man, since then, the city has exploded! Great to see.

It will be just as dramatic as you initially thought, I think at least. It hasn't gotten to the dramatic part of the tower yet. Also there are some serious lighting that has been tested out for night time, you will not be disappointed when this thing gets finished believe me!

Nibletodell on UP edited one of my photos to show what the handle will roughly look like and how much is left on the tower. The just recently jacked up the two cranes for what should be the last time.

I questioned if it would look good on Charlotte's skyline. After seeing it under construction over the past few months, I think it looks great. The lighting plan is similar to the new RSA Tower in Mobile, by the same architects. The corners will change colors. It should look great on an energy company's headquarters.
