Sorry, I guess "part of the valley" wasn't as clear as I thought it would be. I didn't mean South Jordan - I meant the southwestern part of the valley. Southern Kearns can see part of it, most of West Jordan can see most of it, then South Jordan, Riverton, and Harriman can see all of it.

I'm not exactly sure what it is, but it's not Timp. Twin Peaks has a part of the base that juts out and blocks SLC's view of Mount Timp. The Traverse Range (Point-of-the-Mountain) also obstructs views of the mountains in the Provo-Orem area. The South Western part of the valley can see through the gap where I-15 goes through the Traverse Range and can see Timp as well as a few other mountains south of it. We can also see all the way up to Ben Lomond North of Ogden. We can see just about the entire Wasatch range! I think our elevation (which ranges from 4600-5100ft) also helps. West Valley and Magna are too low to see that far. Then I think Antelope Island obstructs their view of Ben Lomond

I am jealous of SLC, though. They have a full view of the Oquirrhs, which are also very beautiful! I love all the mountains we have here in Utah
