^i agree. i'm all for the ethical and humane treatment of animals, but PETA takes it too far with their propaganda and rhetoric.

No they aren't, they're just idiots with signs. The moment they rm a boat full of explosives into one of the cruise ships or naval vessels, or plan/attempt to, they become terrorists, and their boat gets blwon sky high, and the rest of the organisation detained (but no longer sent to Gitmo).

Do you have a bigger version of that pic? I'd love to actually make a shirt out of it.

they're not ruining anything. it's just an opinion. get over it. people can judge it for themselves.
as for how we need more oppression so as to silence this, well...
how about we let people who disagree with us voice their beliefs?? is that really SO difficult.
i am not a peta supporter, but the comments i read on this thread are ridiculous.... juvenile... completely reactionary....

PETA can say whatever they want to say. they're wrong in making the connection between the annual and traditional seal hunt and the Olympics. especially since the seal hunt is mainly done in late March and not mid February. also, the seal hunt takes place in the Atlantic provinces, the Olympic games are in the Pacific. Seal hunting is also not an Olympic sport.

as for our comments being reactionary, yeah, its called being human.

It would be nice to make it a Olympic sport though, just to spite them. See how many seals you can club in a given amount of time, then add points for creativity and blood splatter since the bigger the splatter the more efficient the kill.

Anyways the organization is a joke, I say this right after eating a extra rare blood dripping steak.

there is no appeasing PETA. we could allow animals to over run our cities to the point where all restaurants served only locally grown, organic, vegan food, and it was illegal to kill any kind of animal, and PETA would complain about how thistle bushes were hurting small birds.

Animal rights activist tend to pick and choose their hapless species. You'll rarely see them campaigning with fish or shellfish or other non-cute animals.

I also don't see a huge problem with seal hunting as long as it is not decimating an endanger population (which at this point it isn't). I do react to seeing a hakupik but I wonder how widely use that club still is?

I am opposed to Japanese whaling and am concerned about over fishing but at the same time, I am a bit of a hypocrite because I will have shark fin soup at a banquet if served.

Somehow though, I do not see the connection with 2010. And what an idiotic move - they say vanoc has clout to influence policy but proceed to curry vanoc's favour by showing a modified vanoc logo clubbing a seal. I though you wanted Vanoc to help you out??! Way to bite the hand that feeds you.

Well thats the problem, shooting is worse as it just tears a hole through the brain and generally doesnt kill instantly as it takes a few seconds for the hemorrhaging in the brain to kill the animal. Now with a club you literary split the scull and crush the brain and turn it to mush which instantly kills the animal painlessly. Obviously in both scenarios they will still twitch and what not as the nervous system overloads and random signals are fired of to random muscles until all the cells in the body begin to die from a lack of oxygen and what not.

I suppose you could argue that it would be better to have some sort of taser that fries the brain and nervous system instantly but meh I dont see the big difference, clubbing sounds pretty humane to me.

Now lobsters on the other hand, getting boiled alive...or flies getting stuck on sticky papers and tearing their legs off and starving to death...or raid burning bugs from the inside out...or rat traps crushing rats and letting them bleed and or starve to death while having their internal organs splattered over the rat trap...now that inhumane.
too bad no body gives a crap about annoying bugs, ugly lobsters, and dirty rats.

I also disagree with the point they're making and believe that most Canadians are far more aware of what the seal hunt actually is than those protesting from other countries. However, I am not going to make a big deal over Peta's right and desire to protest peacefully.
