It would be great if this were to be completed pre olympics.

Oh no...didn't realise that was happening. What are the stores that are being demolished? Anything anyone would miss?

^ This is the very definition of a s-l-o-w Vancouver project.

You see the 2 towers across the street from it - Brava - where the photo was taken? I nearly bought a suite in there several years ago at pre-sales. I went to the showroom, before the towers were built, and got talking seriously to the staff. One of my big concerns was what would be in my view, as I wanted one of the lower suites or townhouses. What did they say back then: Oh, the city is *about to* knock-down the 2-storey light industrial buildings there and put in a park, it's *imminent*, you'll have a grrrreat view!
That was before the towers had even broken ground. The buildings are still there. The park is still held up in bueuracratic hell.

So don't hold your breath for the park being built "before the Olympics".

That's beacuse the City has run out of money from the Development Cost levies that were supposed to pay for the park, and with downtown south being mostly built out now, there may not be much more money down the pipeline. I think the other park site (where the Lucy Mae Brown Restaurant is located) is in greater jeopardy than the Emery Barnes Park (esp. since Yaletown Park wasn't contemplated at the time and is close by that site).

The drycleaner and the nail place are, apparently staying. The two main business to go were Black & Lee Formal Wear (who relocated to Georgia/Richards) and the car rental agency (Avis I believe) - they just drove off into the sunset (no word on where they wound up).

If that drawing is correct and the project is really moving forward - albeit slowly - they can't be staying for the long term.

I never realized how much larger the second phase was. It will - hopefully - be a nice park when it is finally done.

Phase 2 includes the land on the north-west corner of Seymour and Davie. The Vancouver Park's Board has a blurb about the plans (and I expect there's a corresponding Council report on the City's website somewhere...)

Just a quick update on the Habour Green Park restaurant process.
The Parks Board has issued a RFP from restaurateurs. They will be responsible for building the restaurant according to the approved plan. The decision on who will run it will be made in Dec of this year. The lease will be a percentage of the gross. Construction will start July 2010 and it will be open for business by summer 2011.

I really like these higher podiums, those two are really coming along nicely.

DT looks so dense in that picture!

Onni 1022 is turning out better than I expected. Looks like they're using some decent materials.

yaits really odd the Nail place and drycleaner are going on like its normal business. No signs up saying they will be moving etc.

I imagine they will finish the current demo work and then move on to the corner unit come spring/summer....
