^^ Yeah, people just come to fight basically. The attitude of most people doesn't help either. When I was at a rock concert in Europe 2 years ago I was pushed by someone beside me into the person on my other side...and the guy ended up having his beer all over him. He wasn't happy, but saw I didn't do it on purpose and didn't start freaking out. I even offered to buy him a beer and he didn't want it. Here, if you bump into someone by accident, they become all confrontational and just want to pick a fight with you.

I hope that they will spread out the bars throughout the city instead of lumping everything into Granville street...every time I go there I have either seen a fight or had someone trying to start one with me. So I just don't go there at all. The only decent place I have been to Downtown is The Cambie and places in that area.
I would hope they open bars and clubs up along Broadway where there is lots of stores nearby, that way it wont upset residents too much. Plus there is plenty of transit and road access. Kind of like there is in Kits....but more accessible.
A couple years back, I went to a place in kits and had to walk for over an hour in freezing cold to get home...no wonder people drink and drive.
However, one of the key things missing in places around here is a party atmosphere. It always feels hostile and cold...arrogant and pretentious people acting like someone forced them to come.
