Right, that's whey I'm never really concerned with "completion" dates.

From the earthcam, the site is covered in snow. Haven't checked the forecast so I don't know if this will last or how much it is....I hope construction isn't hampered too much.

The two cranes at the cores appear to have risen.

The site is currently covered in enormous globs of water. Or that's just moisture on the webcam lens...

It has clearly jumped two floors from when that photo was taken.

But that's not a big jump. Look at that building being demolished in the background (the one that ISN'T the DB building) in the old pic - in the new one a new frame is well on its way up. But I'm not concerned, probably not the easiest building to get going...

The north core will rise before the entire thing is at street level.

There's quite an eerie similarity between Calatrava's new concourse arches and the Mexico WTC... Think it's on purpose?

Mexico WTC

I have to stay out of NYC threads, my trip is only 8 weeks away. I start to pee a little when I see something NYC related now.

I remember when the original designs came out and they said it would be finished in 2009 and I was thinking how long away that was... I don't know why they even bother giving completion estimates.

23 December 1970 - Workers etc. finish construction of the North Tower, beating the record. 23 december 1970 is an important date for the history of New York as well as construction. The previous record for height was been beaten by North Tower WTC1 this day because the building achieved a height of 417 meters and it finished construction of that tower's structure. The Empire State Building has gotten back this honorable title after 38 years.
Today is an important day not for ground zero, but for the historical spirit of this place, exacly 38 years ago 23rd dec 1970 in the moment when the last beam was installed on the top of the North Tower this tower bacame the tallest freestanding structure in history of mankind. Finally, after 39 years the title was taken from the Empire State Building - North tower was 36 meter higher than the ESB
