Geez. Sounds like someone got a lump of coal this morning
I doubt anyone is in hysterics in their rooms over this topic. We're just expressing opinions.
Besides, I suspect Whistler has quite a bit of say in negotiating many aspects of the Olympics. You might have noticed they are the Alpine Village for the games. Everything I've seen seems to suggest they are rather highly involved in hosting a successful games.
If this is a critical issue for the city of Whistler, they certainly have the right to express it. I can appreciate their being upset since this suggestion comes well into the planning of the games. I was just suggesting hope that they work out some solution that is cooperative not adversarial. If costs are the main issue (and probably really is), then maybe some compromise can be found.
It just seemed to me from the article that there seemed to be some tit-for-tat association. "Work harder to help us solve the housing issue or we'll strip funds from something important to you" being unspoken but suggested.
Perhaps it was just how the article was put together rather than any factual basis, or maybe I just read something into the article that wasn't intended.
At any rate, Merry Christmas and all that
