Well the park has hardly any trees, so something needs to provide some shade...

^^^ You'd actually be surprised, I was down there late summer and was really impressed with how big some of the trees are down there. There are several areas where the trees are just slightly smaller than "mature" and make some nice forested areas.

Direct sunlight in parks makes dogs constipated.

Maybe he will post the statory history of allowable shadow to sunlight floor ratios as well as setback requirment for shadows from the nearest residential entrance
