Meanwhile in the Okanagan: former Pattison Group executive seeking investors for new boutique winery along Oliver’s Golden Mile
...
Decanting opportunities

Bruce Fuller may have dispensed with plans for an Italian-style wine village near Oliver, but the success of wine sales under the D’Asolo brand name are prompting the former Pattison Group executive to seek land for his own boutique winery in the south Okanagan.

Back in 2003, the plan was for a 13-acre village built around a winery in the corner of Covert Farm. The $100 million Villagio d’Asolo was slated to wrap up in 2008, but the Coverts pursued another option for their property, which pulled the plug on Fuller’s vision for the site.

Now, with the wines made to promote D’Asolo enjoying distribution through a portfolio of 180 accounts, Fuller hopes to secure land in the famous Golden Mile stretch of Highway 97 south of Oliver for his own boutique winery. Until now, the D’Asolo wines have been made by winemaker Daniel Lagnaz at a host winery.
...
I thought I should provide an update on this item. Bruce is now the proprieter of the Rustico vineyard in Oliver. They have their first crop awaiting bottling in 2009.

Now that the scaffolding is down from The Bay on most of the Georgia side, you can see that the darker colour is probably associated with the original building at Georgia & Granville. The darker shade starts at that corner and runs north on Granville for half the block and eastwards on Georgia for half the block. I think that's consistent with the phasing of construction when the store was built.

I too have noticed the vastly improved lighting features on Canada Place. The west side is quite dramatic. The colours change quite quickly, there is a greater variety of colours, and as mentioned earlier, the textures, speed, and movement are exciting to watch. On the east side, there are logos projected for Christmas charities, and the colours change much more gradually. I'm wondering if the lighting fixtures are more of a long-term investment with the Olympics in mind. It seems like a lot of work went into this system for them to just be using it for Christmas.

That looks really cool. Those sails make a decent canvas.

Anyways, if the real thing looks something like that then I'm pretty impressed and will have to check it out soon.

If they keep that system in place then I'm sure they could do some cool projections during the Olympics - like athletes, Olympic rings, and perhaps they'd even reuse those snowflakes.

I was at Canada Place last night, the renderings look quite accurate to the real thing. But imo, the whole logos and Christmas thing a majigs are a bit tacky. The snowflakes on the other hand were pretty cool.

Anyone know what's going on in Storyeum? They've torn the interior up - has it been leased?

yes both sides have been leased out. The water st side will be a european furniture store, the name escapes me right now. The Cordova st is leased out now too, I believe it's some family entertainment business, the original leasee pulled out and the city has found a new one.

Quiet in here, lets start with the bad news before the good news
"The Colours" project is now on hold, an update is expected in the Summer of 09.

The Beasley is still a go, construction is set to start Jan/09.

Richards on Richards is obviously closing, but the good news is they should find a new home at the old A&B Sound on Seymour, maybe they can copy Bons off Broadway and become known as Richards off Richards.

its a bowling alley called excelsior or thats the company behind it

the furniture store is called mona europa ltd. i don't think thats the retail name though and apparently the city is paying for that stores renovations - some bloggers are a little miffed because they said that city money could go to helping the homeless instead of renovating a store

I was wondering who was moving into that Block, when AuBAR (the competition) got firebombed the other day.

They should realise that a portion of the hundreds of thousands of Dollars that the City will get in rent from this store, will go towards those and other programs.
