Now the DV8 burnt down there's just the white one left. I'd like to see them leave that one alone and work around it on that corner.

I would also hate to see the white building go away as well as the Bennett Building on 100 S, one reason is because they are some great looking buildings and the second is because that is one of the few stretches of street in the CBD that has continually had retail stores on it that have remained in business for many years.

Maybe they could arrange it to occupy the corner (red brick one or two stories) and the former DV8 spot, with the lobby and the drive up area, then have the bulk of the building behind the white building, (the portion of arrow press that once housed the Dead Goat) and behind the Dinwoody Building. I would also hate to loose the Dinwoody, I have a hunch that there is a nice historic facade lurking on that building that is just waiting to be uncovered.

Who wants to do a massing model for what I just described?

Man, I go away from the thread for a couple of weeks and when I return, I find aliens have taken over. How else do you explain someone giving Delts a bad time for using bold-face type? Comrade admits to eating at Mickey Dees in Ireland? Lots of teeth gnashing about the various merits of chain-restaurants versus locally-owned-and-operated? What happened to development?

I know with the economy trashed, there is not a lot of new news. But there has to be something better to talk about than quibbling over bold-face type? Either everyone is suffering from pre-holiday-stress-syndrome or aliens must have taken over.

I think I'll go back to bashing Sandy again...much more interesting than discussing type faces, Irish food, or collections of generally bad American restaurants. At least the people in Illinois have something to talk about. Too bad Governor Huntsman isn't a crook and isn't trying to sell a seat on the Utah State Historical Society to the highest bidder.

"But the positive thing is, we have the structure and design in place that gives us a lot of opportunities to make modifications and extend the life of this building - easily - for another 15 years. . . . It can be a very viable and productive building for a long time."
With an eye toward the future, the Jazz have already had experts study EnergySolutions Arena and make suggestions for making it more profitable.
"Those people mentioned: a) The unbelievably good condition the arena is in; and, b) all the glazing we have on the exterior of the building, which makes al­terations much easier," Miller said. ". . . The bottom line is we have a lot of things that people with other arenas wish they had. They are looking to retro-fit their buildings but they're looking at tens of millions of dollars to do what we can do for much less [money]."
At some point in the not-too­distant future, EnergySolutions Arena's premium seating areas will likely be expanded. So will concession and retail space.

I do think the color should reflect the team.

And the talk about restaurants actually wasn't irrelevant. It was relating to what could be placed in City Creek Center and what would be profitable as well as attractive to tourists and other out-of-towners.

The conversation about bolding the type face was pretty irrelevant. But the restaurant chatter actually had a point to it.

I think RFPCME was just being sarcastic blaze, like the rest of us. He's probably one of the more easy going on this forum, LOL. I've received a ton of PM's on how bizarre that whole [BOLD] thing was. I'm glad though that it provided us with so much entertainment. I think we needed it, with all of the crazy economic news going on in the country lately.

I agree that the ESA should be kept around for good while longer. It's still one of the better looking arenas in the NBA. That's great they can make a few needed modifications, without having to build a new structure.

Ooh... An ESPN Zone restaurant would be pretty awesome. Although, one thing I have with the ESA is the southwest side of it and how it looks like one giant concrete slab. I was only 9 or 10 years old when the tornado went through downtown so I can't remember if it has always looked like that, but I definitely think it needs to look more like the northeast side.

I was thinking the exact same thing Metro. It seems like that side is just waiting for some sort of addition. Why not, as long as it can be incorporated in with the utilities service/loading docks.

The SouthWest side is ugly because that's the loading dock side. That is also the side of the building where the players enter.
I do remember that tornado. I was 19 at the time. And I remember that it took of part of the roof of what was then the Delta Center.

The retirement home looks nice, I hope they do a nice job with it if anything deserves to be done well it would be something that will be holding the elderly. I understand how independence and living with family may be seen as better by some, or the majority for that, but I still believe that people need a safe and comfortable place to finish life all be it family or otherwise
