Looks like the Waves in the Sapphire building is almost complete, should be opening within days.

The Starbucks in Shaw Tower opens on the 11th.

The Sony Store wasn't very big, so that would mean a pretty small Gap location. Have they taken over the adjacent retail spaces too?

New high end private liqour store proposed for Pender and Bute, don't have time to post all the details, but it will be rather large. Here's the pdf on it.

that tim hortons on davie is open now

it looks really small

Was down on main street yesterday - its changed so much since i was last there a couple years ago

front has expanded its home/gift kind of stuff into the clothing part of the store and the clothing is now in what I think used to be a paint store on the corner a door or to south and its huge - and it totally looks like an anthropolgie store

seems like that odd gap on main street is gone now - there used to be that cluster near main and 12th and than past king ed main got trendy again now you can get some trendy in the middle

i imagine the chains are eyeing the street as its really changing so fast now

I noticed today that another Waves is opening up on Main in that old pink building on the SW corner of Main and Cordova. The Chinatown Waves is just a few blocks away. The building is being repainted so I'm so sure it's not going to be pink for too much longer...

The gentrification of the DTES is nearly complete, I love it when a plan comes together.

Seriously though, they will do very well there, right across from the police station and an abundance of social workers in the area.

No kidding. The only other coffee shop in the near area is the Bean Around the World on Powell...

The Waves at Pender and Bute is now open, don't know when it opened.

The Starbucks at ShawTower opened today, free coffee and snacks to anyone that shows up before 7pm.

Apparently Waves overextended and had to back out of a couple of lease deals - raffles may have been one of them - but I'm not sure.

Great news about the private liquor store for Pender and Bute (if it goes ahead). I'd pay a couple of extra bucks not to have to fight the crowds in that tiny and awful BCL on Alberni. (which is a signature store apparently - I guess they signed it: "F#@* YOU!")

Hopefully the retail space along Bute is not empty too long.

The BCL on Alberni's lease runs out in 2011. (or sooner if Bentall wanted to build their tower), so its doubtful they would put any money into it unless they could renew for a longer term.

I'm sure they'd like to move, but the location is pretty central, and they'll probably wind up paying a lot more wherever they go.
