Sorry for being repeatedly stating my displeasure, but I can't get this off my mind. I feel like I've been dumped or something.

Very very sad news. As stated above, I would trade 10 concord towers for just this one.

I told you! Vancouver is getting the shit end of the deal here! We are losing all of our best buildings! The only 3 decent ones left downtown now are Georgia, West Pender and Capitol, and i feel it is only a matter of time now before they go belly up. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!! BUUUULLLLLSHIIIITTTTT!!!! More than 2 thirds sold and almost all office space rented, bullshit again, thats all i can say. Just great, if something doesn't happen soon vancouver is going to look terrible in 2010, we will have a bunch of empty pits with rusty cranes.

One of the other lenders in this project is hurting for cash which might cause ripple effects on other projects soon. That is the reason for the Canadian bank pulling out. Of course I can't name that investor.

Well i can only hope that after we hit rock bottom some if not most of these projects will start up again. By the way any projects in trouble in edmonton? (i hope that large office tower is doing fine).

PS today must be black friday.

I just have to say is the upsetting part of what is happening in Vancouver is that during our extended boom we built nothing but cookie cutter condos, then we finally got some wonderful projects underway just 1 year too late, 1! The only decent project that started soon enough was the Shangri-la. I wish these other projects began rising the same time it did.

this is happeneing all over the place, all across Canada, and the world. it is going to go down in the history books as one of the greatest financial/economic crises ever... no one could have ever imagined the intensity of how the financial chaos spilled ino people's everyday lives, even with no connection to stocks or anything...

on the plus side, its nice to see the developer was so gracious, open, and understanding towards his workers and those involved with the project. he could have continued, but then he would risk not paying his employees, just to progree a littkle further. i think he made a classy decision

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I love this project!

Damn you people who sold sketchy mortgaged-backed securities with no insurance or liquidity to back them up! You fucked the world!

F*ck! F*ck! F*ck! F*ck! Fuck! Fuuuuck!

This was by far the best condo tower under construction in Vancouver. I'm still hopeful somebody well step in and provide financing. I blame the damn Republicans and George Bush.

i dont think anything in the ground will be an issue, but there are more than a few projects that were to have started in fall that have not.

but as said above, all markets are getting hit hard

Can I express my displeasure using Quebecois profanity?
C#!ice de Tab*rn@k!

Its not a surprise though, considering how tight the lending market has become. If you were a bank, would you be willing to invest into a high-end condo project that *might* not sell any more units?

One brightside to all of this... maybe labour and material costs will finally start to come down a bit?

Don't despair... Vancouver is still going to look just fine for the 2010 Aerial shots. Shangri-La IS there at least, Pacific Rim hotel is too far along (I hope), and the Convention Centre will look great.

I would worry more about low cloud and Fog ruining shots (or cancelling events!) during the Olympics. Or worse, a strong pineapple express pumping hundreds of millimeters of rain for days on end...

Pacific Rim is fine.

To be honest no one aside from a few of us on this fourm would even know Jamieson House is missing from the city in a year and a half. Also somehting tells me this project might come back online a while down the road. The developer seems like one of those characters who gets really involved in the specific project and would be the kind to beat the dead horse until it got up again.
