Although it won't be an obvious link, pedestrians will be able to walk from Gallivan Plaza through the block towards pierpont ave.

I do like that they will have that link. It will be similar to the walkway that was created with the temporary buildings that occupied that spot.

For those of you that have been gone for a few years Pierpont has changed in the past few years. Gastronomy sold Baci and Cafe Pierpont to Latitude restaurant group (owners of Mikado) Latitude converted Baci into a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and eventually closed Cafe Pierpont. Ruth's Chris corporate then proceeded to convert the location into a corporate owned store.

So unfortunately the Cafe Pierpont location is sitting vacant. I don't anticipate it remaining so for long though.

"The exterior has an articulated "glowing" glass veil structure at the roofline. In the evening, night lighting with emanate from behind the glass veil to give the building a glowing lantern effect."

I've always thought Downtown was a little too dark at night, so this is a good thing to me.

looks as though the 222 South Main building's crane has now been bumped up high enough to top it off.

Not just windows, but the skin of the building is being applied.

What are people's thoughts on the skin of this building? Like or dislike?

Hard to say, but I do like that the windows are actually transparent and you can see through them, unlike most modern buildings that are usually 60% relfective so you can't see into them.

I think I'm going to like the skin, but it's still a bit early yet. It's kind of reminding me of the look in the rendering of the new Nordstrom.

I do think, however, that the lit crown is going to look awesome and hopefully it sets a precedent for all new high rises in the city moving forward...

Obviously this is a much cooler example (of the IFC in Hong Kong) ...but lit crowns really add a dramatic touch to a skyline at night especially when the cloud ceiling is right near the top of the building...

Agreed. Salt Lake City's skyline is way too dark, and it doesn't help that Wells Fargo Center turns off it's blue roof-light near 10:00p either.

Agree. Downtown is too dark at night and that Wells Fargo should keep their blue lights on all night. LOL, At least we have the new walker sign to help add to it.
I bet 222 South Main will look awesome at night with the crown all lite up. Can't wait.

Well, I just heard back from Bruce Bingham of Hamilton Partners and he said that they will probably want to use some of my photos for their publicity he said. Kinda cool.

From this morning. A few hours later they started the next row of windows up but I didn't have my camera at that time.
