Dont know how to put web sites on here but check out the diamondback rollercoaster construction at kings island. just googe diamondback coaster construction. realy cool how they put a 230 foot tall hypercoaster together.

Or maybe that should be the "New East Ave" area, since there's not actually an East Ave at that spot right now, is there? I know I-35 took most of what used to be East Ave (with only a little remaining right by Town Lake).

East Avenue is actually the frontage road up there at 32nd.

Looks like they're building a 3 story Dillards @ The Domain. LOL is this really necessary right now? More generic big box department stores?? Especially chains that are already all over Austin?

I would rather see some high rise office buildings there- like in the range of 15, 20, 25 stories or more. But I guess Austin's office market demand is usually never anything like San Antonio, Dallas, and Houston's: which are filled with high rise office bldgs (many outside of the downtown core).

I remember when Dillard's entire local presence was a smallish store at Hancock Center (about where the HEB pharmacy department is now) that they abandoned when Scarboroughs and Joskes at Highland Mall died. Now Highland Mall is dying so it's time to move on, like a hermit crab looking for a larger shell. Maybe someday they'll tear-down the Hancock Center HEB and build a Dillards.

incorrect in fact in most drawing it shows it not to be there. but where the peter center is. and that part isnt even torn down. no hotel for at least a yr and a half. plus i go to school right across the street lol

You're right, Kevin, it's hard to match up these buildings with the renderings. For a while I was unsure that the building currently going up is really the Texas Monthly building, because it didn't seem close enough to I-35, based on the renderings. It's confusing.

SoCo Lofts is reportedly going to begin to cancel contracts Monday and convert to an apartment community.

I'm sure those units are nice, but the area isn't condo worthy. I remember Kelso had written a column about the sign at the Expose flashing its lights just across the street from the units. I would imagine that's a bit overbearing. The area is such a hodge podge of uses. I feel like it's better suited as an apartment project.
