Winnipeg may have made the playoffs, but they will get beat by Edmonton in the semi final. A Calgary, Edmonton Grey Cup would be pretty damn awesome!

Edmonton is only team in the west the Bombers actually stand a decent chance of beating. I would imagine the pundits will even have Winnipeg as slight favorites for this game.

I have said this before, if a team is well managed (which Calgary definitely is) there is no reason they shouldn't be competitive every year, that doesn't necessarily mean they will be #1 every year, but they should be capable of challenging for that spot. If a team is poorly managed like Hamilton, they will be uncompetitive most years.

The only time the Stamps weren't competitive was when that douchbag Feterik bought the team so his shitty quarterback son could play, he is the reason Buano went to BC.

I can see Winnipeg beating Edmonton in the East Semifinal. The game will be played in Winnipeg, plus Winnipeg has been improving as the season goes on, while Edmonton has struggled as the season goes on. I'd say Winnipeg is a slight favourite.

I totally agree with your assessment of teams being well managed vs not. In the CFL, it seems to me that good management is more important than any other league, and management is very important in every league. More so in the CFL, IMO.

That was probably one of the years that Feterik was owner, Crandell should have been our starter, but he had a terrible start to the season. Our QB situation didn't get better until we got Burris, and he wasn't very good his first couple seasons, but the last 2 he has been one of the best in the league.

Yes, Burris' consistancy has improved the last couple years. That was always the problems with Burris though. If he didn't have the talent, he wouldn't have made an NFL start, after all.

Well everything is said and done. No real surprises in the West. A few in the East. Will anyone knock off Montreal in the East?

In the West I wouldn't really place money on anyone of the three. My heart lies with Saskatchewan Will be nice to celebrate two in a row!

Right now I give the edge to Sask over BC only due to the fact that the game is outdoors in Regina. The Riders better hope for some crap weather, it will help them immensly. Calgary goes 3 weeks without a meaningful game, it will be interesting to see how they hande it.

Ricky Ray is now the all time leader for passing yards in Edmonton, passing Warren Moon.

Both Calgary and Edmonton took pretty big risks IMHO by playing Ray and Burriss in what were essentially meaningless games. Yes they helped to either get or set records which was nice but why risk your stary player to injury? I suppose you could argue that it may help Burriss by keeping him sharp for one more week, especially when they have a bye week now. And Ray needed a good bounce back game after a few weeks of poor showings just for his mental game.

The playoffs will be interesteing. It's anyone's game right now in both divisions.

I don't know, Winnipeg is on a tear right now, they will be just as tough as any western team.

Winnipeg looked impressive in the win over Hamilton, even though Hamilton sucks bigtime, Winnipeg looked good. Anyway I just want to see Edmonton get creamed, although a Calgary vs Edmonton Grey Cup would be pretty intense!

Calvillo, Burris named finalists for top CFL award

Calvillo, who won the prize in 2003, topped the CFL with 43 touchdown passes and a 107.2 passer rating this season, leading Montreal (11-7) to first place in the East Division.

Burris, who has never won the outstanding player award, finished second in TD throws (39) and passer rating (103.8) to lead Calgary (13-5) to top spot in the tougher West Division.

Calvillo was one of three Alouettes to be named a finalist for a year-end award. Slotback Ben Cahoon is in the running for top Canadian honours, while guard Scott Flory is up for top lineman.

The other East Division finalists were:

* Winnipeg defensive tackle Doug Brown (defensive player).
* Hamilton receiver Prechae Rodriguez (rookie).
* Toronto's Dominique Dorsey (unanimous pick for special-teams player).

Joining Burris as a West Division finalist are:

* Edmonton receiver Kamau Peterson (Canadian).
* B.C. defensive end Cameron Wake (defensive player).
* Saskatchewan's Gene Makowsky (top lineman).
* Receiver Weston Dressler (top rookie).
* Calgary kicker Sandro DeAngelis (special-teams player).

The winner will be announced at an awards banquet in Montreal on Nov. 20, three days before the 96th Grey Cup game.

GO Calvillo! 43 TD and he didn't even play the last game of the season... The CFL record is 48! And don't forget the better passer rating.
