I'm not going to argue the incredible amount of points the Als have put up this year, but it isn't as if Montreal plays a lot of games against tough teams. Toronto is terrible, Hamilton is well below average, and they got the Bombers twice while they were ice cold.

Certainly, Montreal deserves full credit for the wins, but the 97' Argos, they were not.

It's getting easier and easier for the Als against West team.
40-4 against Edmonton and 37-12 against Saskatchewan
That's 77 points scored against 16 allowed...

I'm not in any way trying to discredit your wins. They were good. The Als are rock solid, very efficient, very disciplined, and are fundamentally the most sound team in the league. 9-4 is a great record, but the 2008 Alouettes aren't amongst the all-time best offensively. They aren't even the best offensive ball club in the CFL this year. Total points foregone, I don't think you'd find too many people that consider Montreal more explosive on offense than Calgary. More efficient? Absolutely. I respect the Alouettes. Right now, no eastern team or potential crossover opponent (Edmonton, Regina) can beat them. Nonetheless, the current Als are not an all-time great offensive unit or team. They are a very good football club, that is having their way with teams right now - which is commendable - and is a result of playing good, fundamental, technically polished football. The 08' Alouettes aren't one of the more memorable teams of all time. They are a very good team in this 2008 season and are a heavyweight Grey Cup contender.

As an aside, Jamel Richardson and Avon Cobourne are very entertaining. Great young nucleus (along with MacPherson) to grow with when Cahoon and Calvillo decide to practice their golf game.

I didn't know Richardson until this season... BUT WOW! I don't how he did not make it to the NFL. Spectacular receiver: 60 catches for 864 yards for 8 TD. And some of his catches are breathtaking!

and Avon Cobourne is a beast...123 runs and 840 yards for 5 TD. That's 6.8 yds per run. He missed a few games due to injury so he could have around 1200 yards.

Montreal has been impressive the last couple weeks, as has Calgary. I predict these 2 teams in the final with Calgary claiming the cup, hopefully it won't break in half this year though...

Though I think BC could come on strong from here to the end of the season. That's the team in the West I'm most concerned about come playoff time.

Saskatchewan is Calgary's biggest threat if they get healthy before the playoffs. BC is always strong, and you can't go wrong with the best coach in the league. Damn you Feterik (sp?), you made him leave with your stupid antics.

Calgary will have to battle hard for the 1st place in the West and the Als need just 1 point to clinch the championship. So the whole team could be rested. Giving McPherson 30 minutes and Calvillio the other 30 minutes should be very useful to the team. Giving Cobourne a rest would give some experience to some other guys just in case.

Calgary and Saskatchewan have back to back games this weekend and next, so if Calgary can win both, we should all but lock up 1st, if we lose one or both it will be a battle down to the last week.

As an Edmonton fan I hope to see Edmonton play Montreal in the eastern final...

Edmonton is 6 points ahead of Toronto with one game in hand and 5 games left. If Edmonton wins only one more game, Toronto must win all the rest of their games to make it into the play offs...Odds are that is not going to happen therefore I think there is a high probability that a western team will cross over to the eastern playoffs....most likely Edmonton.

The game tonight for Winnipeg at Edmonton might just be a pre-cursor to the eastern semi-final and the Toronto-Winnipeg game next week should be interesting to see who comes out in second place in the east.

Go Eskies go!!!
