Does anyone have any details on the Ashton? All I've been able to find online is this http://www.altavidaaustin.com/ which tells me nothing. If it's going to be a lot like the Ashton in Dallas (as far as amenities, floor plans, and interior finishes) then I'm really excited about it. Here is the Dallas website: http://www.theashton.com/

One would think that if they will be ready to rent out any units by Spring 2009 (as they claim), that they would at least have a nice website up. Am I missing something?

The reflection is almost as clear as the actual view.

Yes its AMLI and here is the site plan and elevation of the proposed lot.

W Crane

Some pics of the 600 ton crawler being used to put up the tower cranes at the W:

Also, the big hole in the middle is going to be a filter for the water runoff. It will be a sand pit and then the deeper portion is the sump.

I'm looking forward to providing some unique photos of this site in the future.

Nice updates. I still haven't seen Spring pop up on the skyline yet here in South Austin, though I could have sworn i saw something over in that area a few days ago. I need to ride around to all my usual vantage points and see if I can spot it. The crane should at least be visible now.

Raising the crane at the W.

On Friday morning I went out early on my bike for a ride. Stopped first by the W and, lo and behold, a huge crawler crane was there with various crane parts scattered about.

I've been a little confused for a while about the 3 crane bases. They installed the white and yellow ones, but the gray base has stayed there on the side. At first I thought maybe they were going to swap out the white base for the gray one, especially when I saw them digging out around the slab.

Nothing happens quickly on the work site, and I needed to get my exercise in, so I took off on my bike back to I-35, biked across the bridge, snapped this pic:

Rode down Riverside and stopped at Joe's Crab shack for this pic:

Note the Austonian and Four Seasons starting to pop up:

Then rode down to Congress and went back across the bridge to downtown and went back to the W site. And I saw that instead of swapping out the bases, they kept white for the below ground part and gray segments for the rest.

I did eventually need to work that day, so that was it for me.

Saturday morning I rode down to see how it was coming. And I brought my super-wide angle lens to see if I could get the whole crane in frame.

There are still yellow crane pieces waiting to go:

WOW~ Suburban Crap. Sorry.... just don't get it. I was certainly hoping the generic apartments that have been torn down in that area would not be replaced with new generic apartments. Really disappointing for AMLI.

I think the skyline would actually end up looking better if the Austonian were turned 90 degrees from it's originally design like it is in that picture.

I'm pretty familiar with this project, it wont feel be as suburban as you might think.

Awesome shots, priller. Thank you (and everyone else) for all the updates throughout the summer, when I was too lazy to get out in the heat (and now have the waist line to show for it.)
