Okayyou said that the glass was starting to be put up. I can't see it on the webcam. I even drove down Arapahoe this morning and didn't see it. I assume they've only put it up on the 14th street side so far. It was fun seeing one of the support pillars for the next floor being swung 50 feet over the top of my car, though.

All the windows along 14th on the 3rd floor have been installed. It looks really nice. Lawrence and Larimer don't have any yet.

Here's a look at the glass on 4S. I'm not sure if I'm liking it or not. I hope it has some type of protective covering or film that has yet to be removed.

The lack of brick is a tad disappointing... I thought we'd get a good dose of color. Oh well, we still get a sexy new tower to anchor this part of dt.

I don't think it was ever supposed to be brick. I think everyone just misinterpreted the redish color on the renderings.

This will be a bookend to The Republic Building in color, yet not quite as high at the opposite end of downtown. It should give downtown a very balanced look.

I'm totally with you. The rendering with the brick was just a rendering at dusk, so everything looked reddish - but I never saw any brick. CPV, thanks for the photos! I love the glass as it is.

i really, really wish that we had a small setback on the tower that aligned with the height of the 3 story section of this project...i think it would have tied it together very nicely, given slight relief and reinforced it's art deco themes.

Luxury condos selling fast, despite economy

DENVER – In this time when homes are selling very slowly, $800,000 condominiums are being snatched up in a building that's still being built downtown.

The Four Seasons Hotel and Residence is under construction at 14th and Arapahoe. Only 16 floors of the 45-story building have been built so far, but already several of the units have been claimed.

"We started selling last year and we've already sold about half of the homes here, which is extraordinary," said Chris Norton with Four Seasons. "We still have about 20 months to go and we very much expect to be sold out by the time we finish."

The first 18 floors of the building will house Denver's first Four Seasons Hotel. The remaining 27 floors will provide one, two, three and four bedroom condominiums, ranging from 1,000 to 7,000 square feet. Norton says it is the Four Seasons' international reputation for posh rooms and customer service that have buyers lining up.

"There were a lot of people waiting for this; a lot of people who had experienced Four Seasons around the world," Norton said. "When they heard they had the opportunity to have it in Denver they jumped."

"It's really the case of something very different for the market," Norton continued. "Even though the (economic) environment wasn't fantastic, people recognized that this is not something they've had the chance to have here before."

Construction workers on the project say they're hoping to finish a floor a week. The hotel and residences are expected to be finished by spring 2010.

If they're selling so well, why don't they jump the building from 45 back up to 50 floors? The cost of building materials has plummeted again; 350 million should get 5 floors of concrete no?

Can't argue with that. The foundation should take another 5 floors. Didn't 1LP go an extra floor along the way, 32 instead of the originally announced 31?
