I can't believe how long it is taking them to finish up the fins on the SW facade, it is agonizing. AGS is really slipping.

Agreed - on paper it reads as "windows" but in reality it's a blank wall.
Same for the Save-on-Foods frontage along 7th Ave. at The Rise.

WRT the fins, there's an opaque section on the fin along the hypotenuse of the triangular floorplate part - is that opaque part going to extend the entire length of that fin?

agreed!

WRT to the blank wall, i think it was unavoidable. the city placed this condition;

B.2 Conditions of Development Permit:

B.2.1 The food store operator shall be notified and advised that glass walls facing West Georgia and Alberni Streets must not be covered, or obstructed by shelving or advertising.

i'm sure urban fare was weary to loose shelving space so they minimized the amount of glass in favour of more room.

i'm not opposed to the end result. the stone is nice and really, the blankness doesn't go on for very long.

^It's not hideous, it's just that Georgia street is devoid of street life and Shangri-la does nothing to help it.

Hello. The Shangri-La really makes a great addition to the skyline when coming in from the Georgia Straight. Downtown Vancouver looks like a mini Honk Kong from this view. I took this picture today, always sunny in the straight!

In my opinion, The Shangri-la has definitely saved Vancouver's skyline...

I think the shangri-la fits the skyline perfect, and the ritz-carlton and hotel georgia will compliment it further. Vancouver doesn't need monster towers at this point, but i do agree we need many more in the range of 150m to 220m. I am happy that we finally got one with two more on the way!

Shangri-La from the roof of a project on Oak Street. Shows how tall it is in relation to Wall Centre.

The maintenance crane on the top looks a bit funny. But other than that, a great addition to the skyline.

Wow, that is pretty cool. Mac-Blo building almost looks bigger than RBC in that shot.
