....I've brought this up in the past and I'll bring it up again.......it seems (IMO) the page 1 list is getting more and more out of touch with reality ......certain building (like the Spire) with unrealistic completion dates, buildings like "the Clare" that have topped out aren't designated, other buildings like the 600 N LSD twins seem to have stalled, it appears that the Joffrey Tower is complete, the "proposed" list needs to have buildings purged (or marked as "effectively dead"). The buildings in "site Prep" have been there forever and need to be demoted back to proposed......and Waterview .......well, I don't want to go there ........

.....that's the point.....it seems that there are a few building around that for some reason are being slowed by the developer.....all I can think of is that that there aren't enough unit sales and the developer can't pay out his construction loan ? ...I really don't know the answer...and I may be wrong about these building being deliberately slowed down....it just seems to be the case ? ....

Actually there are only two buildings in the city that we know of that have started construction without all financing in place. Those are the Spire and Waterview. There may be one or two others, but I certainly haven't heard of them and I've been on here for over two years now...

It was a weird weekend in Chicago, I was all over the place. A few random photos.
First, from my dad's hotel:

Friends were staying at the new Dana Hotel. It's nice inside, very trendy. But I really dislike the unfinished concrete ceilings. It just looks... sloppy. They weren't very careful with the formwork. I should have taken pictures inside.

Then, the skyline from Wrigley.

^ That website stopped receiving updates a few months ago. I'm assuming that the real estate slowdown got to them

From Roeder's column in today's SunTimes:

GOING UP: A guy could get a kink in his neck trying to keep up with the construction in Fifield Cos.' Kinzie Station in the West Loop. James McHugh Construction Co., having finished the 39-story Echelon apartment building, has started on two more towers -- the Alta and Cirrus -- on the property.

The buildings will be 41 and 37 stories and contain about 420 apartments each. The architecture is by Pappageorge/Haymes Ltd. When these buildings went through the Chicago Plan Commission, its acting chairman, Linda Searl, saw no reason to block the project but scolded the architects and developer for drab design. Take a look at the photo with this column and decide for yourself.

Dana Hotel

Yeah this building is great looking from the outside.......I wouldn't be suprised if the inside rooms look kinda of shoddy and sloppy! This building went up so fast and the hotel opened so quickly it doesnt suprise me that the formwork would appear sloppy!

For as much as i like concrete finishes i cant help but think the same thing about some of the interior condos also at 600 fairbanks. I love Helmut Jahn, I love this glass masterpiece outside and i appreciate the architecture of the interiors but for money some of the units just look plain FUGLY, and messy!

^^^ Not true about 600 N, the interiors there do not look sloppy at all. I have seen the insides of that building and the concrete finish is on par with the finishes on Marina City when it comes to smooth and relatively seamless...

At the very least, a whack to the back of the hand with a ruler would have been appropriate. Followed by a few bitch slaps.

These Kinzie project buildings are retreads of Michigan Avenue Towers 1 & 2 in the South Loop. Could Pappageorge be any lamer?
