my guess was his repeating the same question every few days when these questions have been answered again and again.

he'd been asked to stop asking the same questions but didn't

i'm sure they sent him an explination

Of course, why would you post anything else? Seriously, the people who constantly dog on this project seem to do so over and over and over and nothing else.

On another note (the progress on the ground)... Great to see the whalers in there for the 7th ring! A nice milestone coming for the major underground work!

Fascinating and highly in-depth article on Calatrava from The New Yorker. It contains some references to the Chicago Spire.

J. P. Morgan ends mortgages for overseas buyers
By: Eddie Baeb Aug. 29, 2008

(Crain’s) — J. P. Morgan Chase & Co., which had been part of efforts to market the Chicago Spire overseas, earlier this month eliminated its program that made mortgages to foreign buyers.

The move by J. P. Morgan, which offered mortgage loans to prospective foreign buyers in the planned 150-story Spire, was among others recently instituted by the New York investment bank as part of efforts to tighten its mortgage lending practices, says a company spokesman...

It's part of the regulations being implemented to prevent another Bear Stearns disaster.

i predict that once this building is finished the amount of car wrecks along LSD will increase dramatically. People will be like, holy crap look at that and not pay attention to the road.

Not really, this is banks reacting to the (natural) demands of shareholders to get out of the RE market, whether its a rational move or not. Bear Stearns had nothing to do with giving out bad mortgages, they weren't even a real bank, just and investment bank. Bear Stearns went under not because they gave out bad mortgages but because they bought tons of bad securitized mortgages...

I'm not sure why a Chase rep would travel with the Spire sales team if so few people actually relied on lenders to purchase their residences there.

Even if it his capture rate was a small percentage of overall sales, I'm sure the Chase mortgage guy will write plenty of loans for his efforts.

well remember, JPM now owns all of Bear Sterns bad securitized mortgages. I'm sure they don't want to keep digging that hole of debt even further. I didnt know JPM was involved in the Spire sales, but it sucks that they are. I understand them backing out of something like this.
