^Lex Park adds more density to the southern tip of the skyline, and thus is very noticeable as a skyline extender. Here's hoping "downtown" truly does encompass the whole way south to Cermak and McCormick Place and this is just an anomaly.

I found out today the glass is coming from China, and what nice glass it is...

I also found out this referred to as a "Stickwall" in the trade...

Children's Hospital 08-26-2008...

Lifting a rebar cage

emptying a bell bucket

and going back in the hole

Huge bell bucket, look at the construction barricade behind it for scale reference...

After I took these, a Revcon guy told me to stop taking pictures, I replied "why's that?"
>"Because this is a private work site. I don't know who you are or who you work for."

"Well, I'm on a public street"

>"But you are in front of our gate"

I just replied "Alright, whatever...." and took the path of least resistance, and walked away. He didn't say don't ever come back. It doesn't matter anyway, because I will be taking more pictures from public space whether he likes or not, I really don't care; because he does not have a legal right to forbid it. Just an FYI for any other formers shooting this project.

^Good for you. The very essence of liberty is that anything that is not forbidden is allowed.

I recently had a situation down in Urbana where a hospital security guard decided I couldn't take pictures of the building from a public street and called Urbana police on me. The fun part was that it was the hospital who had hired me to take pictures of their own building. The security guard would not back down and call his office to learn that I had permission to shoot anywhere on the campus--much less from a public street.

Any human being would get a little antsy and peeved if they were being photographed repeatedly by a stranger for many minutes - especially if it's of them at work. Let's as photographers remember that moderation is important; otherwise maybe workers' complaints/concerns would get up to some senior manager somewhere, and some general contractors would start putting up view-obstructing screens at worksites or otherwise being less friendly giving information to casual observers. I suppose.

Screens are already required for dust mitigation. Sure he has the right to get ancy, but if the site is visible from public domain, than expect to be seen.

Is Lexington Park the one that's way south, near the McCorrmick Hyatt? I saw a tall one going up there from 90/94 last week, and was surprised by how far south it was compared to the other buildings.

^Yes, Lexington Park is located at Cermak and Michigan and is really helping to fill out the far south end of the central area skyline.

Lincoln Park 2520 is not under construction yet, or I at least could get any definitive proof. That place is walled off like Fort Knox and could not see anything indicated construction looking through the cracks in he plywood wall. There also was not a single person working on the site, however the last remaining Columbus Hospital building has now been shrouded in scaffolding and is in the beginning stages of demolition. I am guessing that will come down first before any other work begins. The sales center which was located in that last building has moved to the Jon Hancock Center.

Here is another building Under Construction in Evanston, called The Mather. 10 stories, 141'-2" to the top of the copula, 107'-2" main roof/ main roof parapet. This will open in 2009. Apparently, there are plans for a 2nd phase across the street which will open in 2011, the second phase will replace a nice 1920's era 8 story courtyard building already owned by the Developer, which is Mather Lifeways, a company which builds and maintains Senior Housing.

Thanks, Harry. By the way, your photos have really been amazing lately. The quality is really top-notch.

Here's a zoomed out picture of the K Station site from yesterday.
