Anyone interested....

Executive Director Search

Downtown Salt Lake City is teeming with energy as approximately $3 billion is being invested in the core of downtown during the next five years. The skyline is changing, downtown lofts and condominiums are filling with people, construction is commencing on light rail and commuter rail lines, and community leaders are implementing a 40-year regional vision called Downtown Rising. Downtown Salt Lake City is, undeniably, on the rise. The Salt Lake Chamber seeks an Executive Director for the Salt Lake City Downtown Alliance who will continue this momentum and catapult downtown Salt Lake City to a grand and prosperous future.

so, I was searching through the Downtown Alliance's list of projects....as of July 1st 2008.... it appears that they have added some to the list.

http://www.downtownslc.com/pdf/downtown-developments-july-2008.pdf

Camden Centre? Anybody know anything more about this development? I have heard that the developer was looking at making it like a "Tiovoli garden" type development with a ferris wheel and all. I havent heard much since that.

Anything going on at the Ballet West site?

Nothing is going on at the Ballet West site. They leveled it and put up a fence and now nothing.

hmm... sounds interesting. I also noticed that the old Davi8 Club site has been filled in and is rocked off with large boulders preventing cars from driving over it. Atleast they didnt make it a parking lot, but I bet it will become a parking lot for the short term future until a better use is found.

So... I wonder what the current slow-go is about? Maybe just a delay on some sort of materials delivery

It isn't speculation. In Salt Lake County, the majority of people do not live in SLC. There are plenty that would love to but don't for various reasons.

I know I've said this before, but I really would like to see Salt Lake work toward a plan that would encourage Millcreek to officially incorporate as a part of Salt Lake City proper.

So, I was looking at Bowen Studios website. They are a rendering company that does some way freaking awesome work. I encourage everyone to take a moment and visit their site to look at their work.

http://bowenstudios.com/

wonder if this will happen?

not sure where this one is really. I am assuming 1700 south and main street area....

also check out the City Creek Center page for some awesome renderings there as well..

THIS DEVELOPMENT LOOKS AMAIZING. I love the desing however I wish that they made more buildings look like the red brick ones in the south end of the photo.
I also love the fountains in this picture

Looking at the size of that thing it looks to be just as tall if not taller then CCC Tower 1. That Hotel looks to be around 35-stories tall. Sure I know this is nothing in stone, but yet we could all be in for a real treat here if this is the case.

Come to think of it. I think the Hotel would fit in better if it were to face West Temple. Not 100 South. Just a thought.

I've heard that project is on 1700 South and West Temple. Notice the light rail stop. That's right folks, a new station on 1700 S that, rumor has it already has UTA approval. Not 100% positive, but I believe it is a SL Housing Authority project. It will have a lot of hurdles to overcome and is likely 3-5 years out, but it certainly has a lot going for it.

That would be great. I have often ridden trax from 2100 S. to 1300 S and thought that is would be a good idea to have a stop at 1700 S. And there are lot's of brownfields in the area that are ripe for redevelopment, and with the impetus of a new trax stop, I'm sure something will happen

I'm really excited to see what they will do in the cultural district. I would love to see Regent Street as an exciting, pedestrian destination with lot's of places to eat.

eh, I could go either way on this one.

It already takes forever to get to the hub with all of the new stops downtown. Adding another stop along the way isn't going to help.

I'm all for buidling around the existing stops (there are plenty of TOD opportunities with what already exists), but I'm not so sure about adding a stop just to create more need.

There's already a stop at 500 S. and Main. (Courthouse) Adding more stops really doesn't do much when they are already only a block apart through downtown. With all of the current lights and stops downtown, TRAX is no more efficient than a streetcar.
