well the whole floor count discussion is really annoying and unnecessary. its clear how many floors this building has. and anyway 99% of nw2k's posts are rubbish so i have no objection any deletion.

on a more constructive note...is there actually evidence of the crane being retractable, because in every picture thats been posted it sticks out like a sore thumb. i really hope that it does retract because it just ruins the entire suilette of this building inthe skyline....

I wonder if it's logical to artificially introduce bamboo, a non-indigenous plant species, under a totally different temperate climate....

As said already, it looks dry and brownish in the photos. I can only imagine what the Bamboo would look like in November.

You see bamboo all over the place in Vancouver, it's pretty hard to kill the stuff, I can't imagine they'd have a problem.

^Ya it's all over the place. I used to have some in my backyard in Richmond. It never had any problems. They planted bamboo at the base of the Melville as well and as far as I'm aware it has been doing fine. It probably gets a bit more shade though.

It's going to do so well, once it's used to it's locale that they'll likely have problems with it breaching the 'container' it's in.

Speaking of "container" it's quite impressive the way the've planted it on the slope around the stairs leading up to the second level of the podium. It looks like they piled sandbags around each plant, to keep them from sliding down.

I've bamboo in my backyard and this stuff will get away from you if you don't trim it every few months. Some shoots have grown over 4' in the past two months.

Bet they're kicking themselves for planting those trees just days before all this rain.
