The link to the Emporis website for 444 W. Lake on the first page is mistakenly pointing to some building in Dubai.

Harryc - Sublime shots. That's why they call it the "golden hour." When you encounter lighting that amazing, you have to take advantage of it. And you did.

There are a ton of proposals for Chicago on the SCB website I have never seen before and assume are inactive or dead. Here is one that I can't remember if it has been posted here before or is active:

And here is a picture of the Mondrian proposal that I am not sure has been here before:

Oh and This guy is apparently now called "Fairbanks Court":

Here are some others that I have never seen before:

A hotel, "28 N. Franklin":

An Office, "Madison West 645":

An Office, "199 West Monroe":

(The url for this image is called "Monroe Money Shot")

An Office, "Wells Kinze Tower":

So does anyone know if these are actual proposals or not? I guess they must have just updated the site since Conservatory Tower was only discovered recently after it showed up there...

Again all above images are from scb.com

^ First to last: Dead, active, increasingly doubtful, who knows?, possible, very doubtful, really dead (U/C as something else).

Potential Game-Changing News on Golub's Planned Twin Apartment 630 N McClurg Project

I suspect they are trying to fast track it because they are drilling now instead of waiting for the structure to be torn down.

This is older news, but they also have construction sidewalk barrier things around the whole building as well.

There's an article in this week's Crain's that will be of interest. It is mainly about Northwestern Hospitals continued push to acquire more property in Streeterville for future expansion. However, there is a blurb that's very interesting and could have significant bearing on the plans for Golub's upcoming big rental development at the CBS site. It's reported that the Rehab Institute is also interested in the site, and they are talking with Golub about it. What this could mean is anyone's guess at this point, however a redesign would certainly be a strong possibility, as although there is a decent amount of office space planned in the project as is, it certainly would not be enough, or be compatiable for the Rehab Institute's full needs (I think)...this could be very interesting. Like almost everyone else here, I think Golub's current (and approved) SCB-designed proposal is very sweet......as I mentioned there are a lot of possibilities here, if Rehab. offered enough, I don't see why Golub wouldn't consider selling the entire site to them, although I would hate to see the twin rental tower proposal die......all really just speculation at this point, of course...

They had better not do that. I'm tired of all this hospital crap right in the middle of the best highrise residential district in the city. Why don't they start putting this stuff in the much more accessible medical district out west?

The Old Parc Huron

In a news brief on the 171 N. Wabash apartment tower Plan Commission approval in the Sun-Times on Friday, there was a blurb about the developer (M & R Development, an affiliate of Moran & Co) also having a contract to buy the Parc Huron site from Lennar, and to obviously turn that development rental...

I just wish they'd quite building so much accessory parking on seperate lots.

I rather like that I've been able to walk to see my doctor and that I was able to walk to the emergency room this past January when I was in extreme pain and had surgery a few hours later. Couldn't have walked to the Medical District. :-)

Since it seems like not much signifcant news has been coming out like it used to we should try to get some facts this week on proposed towers and there current status..kinda like mandarin oriental, the st clair, 540 north fairbanks, etc...just so we are completly up to date on these buildings and such.

I agree, and the architecture needs to be kicked up a couple notches too, and please something a little bit more experimental in design than something that just adds blandness to the kindom of beige pre-cast. I am a little dishartened that the NW campus continues to tear down all the remaining interesting buildings for this precast pomo stuff and stand alone garages.

the sad truth about hospitals is that they're so heavily restricted by building codes that you can't do very much with the building. the fact that hospitals are so ruthlessly complicated to nail down in terms of following code generally means that the only firms willing to tackle a hospital are generally firms like perkins + will, cannon, hok, and others that have architects that specialize in hospitals. this generally means the best you'll get from them is something glassy but corporate. that isn't excusing the precast beige of the nw campus, but it's just the reality of hospital design.
