Compliments to all for comments and pictures that Ive seen so far. I just joined the forum today and plan to contribute as the building progresses. I work in Chase Tower and will try to add some pictures of the construction from my view. FYI Today they are starting to place the decking on the Steel Frame that has started going up. Most of the construction is still on the West Side of the core. It looks like they are about ready to raise the core frame another couple of floors.

Bluemax, set up a time lapse camera, or take one picture per day from the exact same spot in the Chase Tower of the construction of Central Park East.

hey all, I'm new to the forum. I've always loved building but never once thought to find forums about it. And certainly never thought anyone was discussing towers in Phoenix. This is really cool. I've been checking through some of the threads and saw tons of really cool pics. Anyways, since I'll be here from time to time I thought I'd say hi.

Oops, born and raised in phoenix and love it.

Yes, welcome Bluemax and fightfanatic1. I was just as surprised a year and a half ago as you are now when I discovered there are skyscraper forums in the world and that the Phoenix area has so many active threads. Mostly I "lurk" as these folks here are very knowledgable and informed.

ya i'll probably be more of a lurker as well as I have no background in engineering or designing or working on skyscrappers but just love them none the less.

that and my picture taking skills are amatuer at best.

Nice to see the welcome messages. Thanks. I thought adding pictures would be more intuitive than it is. Ive snapped a couple today and will try and figure out how to add later when I have more time. Im vertual office tomorrow but back at the tower Thursday or at latest Friday. Will try and post something by then.

I know it is supposed to be 2' taller than 44 monroe, but right now it doesn't look like it's going to make it. We'll have to wait and see.

A more accurate way to imagine it would be to just double the current core (11 - 18) then add ~ 15' of mechanical screening. I have 44 Monroe pegged at 377', making CPE 6 feet taller. However, the main roof of 44 Monroe is only 356', so CPE should easily appear taller since the highest point is along the facade.

Edit: The elevation of 44 Monroe's block is 1085' while CPE's is 1086', so there's another foot.

Maybe a few feet above the very top of the crane as it stands now? Can't see 44 Monroe in these pictures to compare them.

So what do you guys think about the news that OKC is getting a 925' tower???? It just really exacerbates what we all know about Phoenix -- absurd, embarassing, ridiculous, perplexing lack of a supertall tower given that PHX is the 5th largest city and anchors the 13th (or is it 12th???) largest metro in the nation. I hate to say it but, man, it's just pathetic that a 483' foot stucco and glass tower has held the top spot in PHX for nearly 4 decades. Yikes. Sad. Yes, I live in Houston now but I'm planning on moving back to PHX soon and I REALLY want to see a 700+ footer there in the next 5 years. What are the odds????? Be serious. 50/50? 10/90? I think it's probably 20% chance given history and the economy...sigh...

^OT and wrong thread but...
If Phoenix had a company that needed that kind of space and need to consolidate them into one location and had the balls to build a tower vs. a suburban campus? Well then, great!

But such a company doesn't exist currently in the Valley.

That being said, I'd love the see Maricopa County consolidate all of their offices and courts into a mega complex. But that makes a little too much sense.

OKC's Chase Tower is already taller than our Chase tower... 500' which I found very sad.
Devon Energy is a huge company in OK and has been wanting to consolidate their operations into 1 building for awhile now... they are currently spread throughout 5 buildings in downtown OKC. Also the economy is OKC is still going strong and the downtown reinasseance is still full steam ahead... I-40 realignment/Core to Shore and Bricktown... I'm not surprised at all that they're going that high.
We can only wish that Phoenix will get something like this one day, but without a huge company, I doubt it will happen anytime soon.
