I was never entirely clear which of these are protected and which are not (recent renovations took place on one and I am not sure they were landmark quality), but at least I have a touch of good news for you. This would absolutely never happen in today's West Loop market / political climate, IMO.

I was just curious if anyone has heard any news about these projects...I have asked before but nobody really knows!
-X/O Condominiums (Is construction still planned to start this fall?)
-Lincoln Park 2520 (Has construction started?)
-Grand Imperial Hotel Chinatown
-The Franklin Point Site
X/O is still planned to start construction in the fall, but who knows. They've pushed the groundbreaking date back several times, and the sales haven't really moved since the last time they pushed it back. In fact, I think a few people walked away and the sales figures actually dropped a couple points.
Lincoln Park 2520 is still chugging along - they'll start construction once demolition is finished, although I don't know whether that has happened yet.
The Imperial Hotel has shown all signs of progressing as planned - there have been no setbacks, and the groundbreaking date has remained Fall 2008 since it was first announced. It has not started yet, though.
Part of the Franklin Point site is now owned by Chieftain and they have commissioned a design from Brininstool + Lynch, but all we've seen are massing models, and it hasn't gone to the city yet for approval.

Thanks for all of the info...I had heard rumors that everything was still good to go on those projects but i just wasnt quite sure! Do you know the cross streets for the X/O Project? There was an article online that stated it was planned to go off S Wabash where the restaurants Opera and Zapatista are now. I thought it was being planned further south but I could be wrong?
^The site for X/O is on the west side of Prairie Ave. between 16th and 18th.

There's currently an ass ugly parking garage that wraps around a building at the corner of Lake and Wabash. The garage fronts both streets. This gareage would be demoed and replaced with a rental tower.

I hope they at least revised their planned three curb cuts onto Sheridan road in exchange for keeping that absurd parking ratio.

They can't just leave it like that, can they? If that steel sits exposed through the winter, is it going to be okay? Are they at least going to paint it?

But the ~25 story brick building at the corner would remain, right? And the new tower would be L shaped and wrap around it? Interesting.
