Well not EVERY square foot. I've got a fascination with that glass-walled shower at the Mandarin Oriental. It's my inner exhibitionist--just wondering how it would feel to be all lathered up when the tourist copter carrying Don from Phoenix or somebody comes by.

I'm guessing, unless the world goes through some dramatic changes, you may need many hundreds of millions of dollars by then to get there, so start saving and investing now!

Maybe by then, we'll be looking at another round of even taller highrises in San Francisco? That's a long wait for hoping, but who knows...?

Anyway, the final shape of the crown is becoming well defined from all directions of view. Along with One Rincon and possibly the Infinity, could we start seeing the roof or building shape in some of those graphics and art that show the San Francisco skyline in various levels of detail as recognizable landmarks? The Millenium looks absolutely stunning nearly completed! I am looking forward to seeing it light up a night.

I could see that happening with ORH because it stands apart and really changes the shape of the skyline enough that you could include it in an outline or relief of the city. Infinity is probably too short and Millennium is tucked in with the existing skyline enough that I don't know if anyone would alter an illustration because of it. I agree that it is stunning, however! I constantly stare out the window at it.

Guess I'll have to see this tower in person (I'm going into SF this weekend -hopefully it won't too foggy) because so far I have not been that impressed. Though I seem to be the minority. Maybe when I see it juxtaposed to the all those somber grey boxes I'll change my mind.

It's definitely more imposing from some angles than from others. Looked at straight on from a distance it appears as a black box while from the southwest it's reflective and impressive.

I like the fact that it is glass and that it is tall for a residential building (I think right now it's the tallest residential building west of Chicago--I'm sure someone will correct me if that is wrong). But I do also think that the fins and such look kind of "busy" and the pattern of them is a little weird. I'm not quite sure what the architect was trying to achieve with that. But overall, I'm a big fan of the sudden "glassing" of San Francisco highrises we are seeing now and this building is certainly a part of the trend.

Did anyone catch Willie's latest article in the Chron? He took a tour of Millennium the other day and noticed that in addition to no floor 13, there is no 44, thus the top floor being 62. (I can't remember if someone on here already noticed that -- or were we discussing that in the ORH thread?). One day I'm going to build a building with floors numbering all the way up to 154 by scouring the planet to find all unlucky numbers. It will be a tri-level.

I do remember mentioning no floor 13 at 555 Mission. There was discussion in the 555 Mission thread as a result.

Not much to update on this. They haven't yet started zipping up the areas where the external lifts were located. Work continues around the area where the building meets ground level. Today, it looks like they are removing the last of the scaffolding that covered the sidewalk along Fremont.
