Yeah, #8= Legacy, ?= Intercontinental, ??= Mandarin.

But cool map anyway. It reminds me of the ones Tom did some years ago.

Are you sure? On their page it had a map of where it was located and that is the exact spot of where the map showed. hmmm

Awesome job...yea it would be awesome to see it with all the 500ft+ towers being built or proposed as well. Just to show how much our city really is getting. You could also add Conservatory Tower to that one...not sure the exact cross streets though?

That map shows how nice it'll be once LSE and Streeterville are built out and the next round of projects have no choice but to expand the edges of the skyline.

You know, I don't know what is going on with those buildings on the south side of Kinzie between the 161 site and the more modern building (352 N. Lasalle) that is due north of 300 N. Lasalle.

They are very old buildings, so old in fact that I'm wouldn't be suprised if they had some historical designation. They contained at least one antique shop (Oriental antiques). Now, they are vacated and the windows have been removed from one of them and replaced with plywood while the other one has its windows soaped up like they do when they don't want you to see inside during remodelling. Wonder if they are both coming down....

Is anyone going to start a 161 W. Kinzie thread or is the project too small to rate its own thread?

Its too small...so we will just have to keep up to date with it in the boom rundown thread. Itll be nice to get rid of the surface lot there though...it was such an eyesore especially when waiting at the Mechandise Mart Brown Line Stop. Itll be nice to get the density built up more.

Lynn Becker's blog said that the building "is under construction, that they'll be back, but it will take a long time."

What an awesome map! Any way we can keep this updated on the first page so it doesn't get buried in the thread? It'd nicely tie up all that's going on in Chicago.

...because it doesn't encompass all of what is covered on page one?

That would be an impossibility. If it covered everything on page one then the entire map would be white dots, lol. I am going to put the 500 footers and up here soon so its more complete.

Well here it is, I updated the map to include projects over 450 ft tall and thats all that anyone really cares about anyways, except for maybe MoMa but oh well. Please put this at the top of the first page or somewhere on it so people dont have to always search for it in the thread. That part of the message is directed to anyone he is the moderator.

Streeterville is dominating like never before. This boom is so amazing, but yes I will be greedy and hope that the north side gets some new towers in the not too distant future as well. It is just too 60's and 70's up here (with some old school classics mixed in as well).. some modern glassier and more revolutionary towers would do wonders IMO.

There is a perfect parking lot on LSD across the street from me that would be perfect for a 600' tall thin and tall modern tower. Yeah, it would block my view somewhat, but in the name of progress I will sacrifice.
