And deny it all you want, but ALL of us have had huge chips on our shoulders concerning the Air Force tanker deal. If I had to pick sides, I would side with you and the rest of the 'bama gang, but this is not a school yard and we are not (hopefully) about to have a fist fight.
Sounds good anyway, back to business.

In other news, I have searched for information on the promenade that would be built on the Alabama motor sports parkway and could not find a dang thing. I see on the web site that a space has been placed aside for retail. Hear-say from the Bel-Air gang states that the building will be huge and nice. I have asked where they got the information and they stated the mall management. I called LaSalle and they would not tell, but stated some competition is under way and that Bel-Air is trying to step up to the plate. Your thoughts please.

Wow! Glad that all died down. I was afraid to post! Thought I'd get fried
Anyways...Is there any plan/schedule as to when the shipping channel will be widened?

I think that any bridge/tunnel development should be held off until this is done.

And (only because I've never been able to find out EXACTLY why) Why is gambling difficult to legalize in Mobile/Alabama? What's the argument? Is it the public's opinion? What?

haha dont get me started!!! we are the ONLY freakin state in the Southeast without gaming or a lottery!!!! and in this case, yes, if everyone is doin it...so should we! Our alcohol rules are so stupid too...anytime my dad wants a nice bottle of scotch, he has to take his money to Florida or over to me in Baton Rouge to buy the stuff he wants and can't find (or if he can, cant afford) in Alabama because of our bass-akward laws! Its funny, because the Winn-Dixie I go to most in Baton Rouge is set up exactly like the one by my house in Mobile, except where the one in Mobile has a large card section, ours in La has a big ole section of liquor!

It's because we are deep in the bible belt... and (unfortunately) the waistline of this particular belt is HUGE!

that didnt stop Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, or North Carolina from having lotteries or gaming...
There is a lottery in 42 states, the only ones with out them are Alabama, Mississippi (which has casinos), Arkansas (who wants to be compared to them anyways...), Wyoming (who has a statewide population less than Mobile County), Utah (nothin to say about them...) and Nevada (and we all know they have casinos! haha)! so we at LEAST should have some sort of lottery in Alabama!!!

...oh and Hawaii and Alaska dont have one either....but who cares

Parts of the state do have electronic gaming machines in casino-like facilities (Greenetrack is the example in my part of the state http://www.greenetrackpaysyoumoney.com/ , but see also the Creeks in Atmore building a 16-story hotel to go with their new gaming facility).

I guess the "no gambling" lobbyists in Alabama (almost certainly with support from gaming interests in our neighboring states) are better organized to oppose and fight it here...

I've wondered that myself. They got some sort of loophole.
Now, how they can do it and Mobile can't is beyond me.

Good point. I don't even spend that much on gambling (15 nights in Vegas this year, and lost maybe $150), but the food, shows, and great hotel deals
make the big casino resorts a good draw for me.

It seems like most states have one or the other. We just got stuck with nothing!
In Arizona, there are the casions on the indian reservations as well as a lottery, not to mention Phoenix is only a few hours from Las Vegas.

I think Casions would do well in Mobile. We have the land and resources, I really wish they would loosen up!
I kinda realized how seious the "bible belt" thing was when they had the big argument about the 10 commandments monument a few years ago. I just remember thinking, in Phoenix it would have been a no brainer. lol.

But that's the good thing about this city and state: They know what to fight for...I just hope they make it Casinos, and soon
