that's 100% protective wrapping. It's probably to avoid getting any kind of paint splatter on them, and, of course, to protect during shipping

Lakeshore East project lifts Magellan to top

"...But the prime location and modest prices boosted sales. "By the time we started building Aqua last February, it was 85 percent sold, which translated into a lower interest rate on our $405 million construction loan," Loewenberg explained.

Within two months, the partners expect to start construction of a 140,000-square-foot retail building to include a Treasure Island supermarket.

Despite weaknesses in some downtown submarkets, Magellan has enough confidence in the central business district where Lakeshore East is located to start developing another residential-hotel building by October. The developer would prefer to site it at Lakeshore East."

I can only assume this is the Arquitectonica building. Reading the rest of the article, they mention that they will market the building soon, but also begin construction and be ready in two and a half years to sell the rest of the units. So are construction loans already in place? Do they have a giant fund for the whole development?

I would think that it would look better. It would tie off its name (aqua) in a better perspective. These railings, although better than the previous ones, are just pieces of black metal, aluminum, etc that do not go with the building's name. I wonder how the buildings would look with a light blue, or AQUAmarine glass railings, it would be something inimaginable. What do you all think?

I agree. at least they should compare to see what would look better.

I think curved glass railings would have been a fair bit more expensive than the metal ones.

^ In a world of nearly endless wealth & resources, I think the answer to that is closer to home than you may think:

And just to keep this post on topic, I'd like to add that as silly as this sounds, those balcony railings would look better if the plastic were kept on them

No no no. Gang wnet over this. They didn't want glass because it had too much of a presence and started changing the visial shape and balance of the strucure, putting more emphasis on the curves as the "external" strucutre and not the building itself.

Matte black iron doesn't create an additional exterior dynamic to the building.

Actually, if you rember in the original proposal, Gang wanted to have acrylic curtains of all different colors enclosing the balaconies.
