There is only about a 19 feet difference between Discovery Tower and OPP. So they are going to look really close in height when they are finished.

Those are some great new renderings. I really like the way the front of the building looks. Lots of trees and I like the part that sticks out. Very Kewl.

All in all very nice...

Here are the renderings from the site if you're just too lazy... The leasing guide has a few good ones as well, though the perspective from the east on the last page is a bit new to me.

In the title, could the floor count be changed to 30 instead of 31?

31 was the first given figure though 30 has been the one popping up as of late. It is included in the leasing info on the website, on the permit at the gate to the construction site and in some of the recent articles.

Here's a shot of activity in the pit from a few days ago. They're filling in the perimiter wall for the parking garage.

They've also started placing large advertisements on several sides of the site featuring sizeable versions of the renderings shown several posts up.

Off Topic: I just noticed the Hilton Americas for the first time in the above photo, and while I see how people could hate its looks, I find it wacky enough that it works. What's the consensus in Houston on its aesthetics?

I have never had a problem with it. For some time it has been the tallest in that area, but that is quickly changing. Soon the area will look nothing like it does now. I think its just fine. Something different never hurts...

Yea it is wacky enough it works. I'm not sure if you have seen the GRB Convention Center but it looks like a giant ocean liner, no joke. So both the Hilton and GRB make that part of DT look architecturally "interesting." I've lived in Houston for 22 years so it all looks like it fits to me in a weird Houston sort of way.

I like the Hilton, especially the interior spaces. The pool deck up top is a wondeful place to get a nice view of downtown.

Overhead shot from 5HC taken this afternoon. Once that ramp finishes the level up, it'll be at ground level.
