Sticky 'Development outside Saskatoon and Regina', 'Development outside Winnipeg'?

Should we sticky them?

I'm supportive of it, it may attract new Saskatchewan members....and according to recent statistics, job growth and investment outside of Saskatchewan's two big cities will continue, resulting in more construction/development, etc.

The single response from the original thread...

I've also caught some stories about the growth in Brandon, it would be nice to have a dedicated thread for development outside of Winnipeg.

Why not combine the two for now? Development in Manitoba and Saskatchewan outside of the larger cities?

With condos going up in Gimili and Lockport, developments in Brandon and plans for more recration and residental developments around Lake Winnipeg I would think this thread would be a good thing.

The major cities seem to get all the attention, but barely any for the other areas of Manitoba or Saskatchewan.

Count me on the yes side.

Really? Isn't that akin to Regina and Saskatoon sharing a construction thread?

I think they both deserve their own, however, I'm open to the alternatives (e.g. combined). I don't expect either to have daily discussions, but occasionally (bi-weekly, monthly) a few good discussions could develop. The first page could have a map and development listing of various projects going on in both provinces, possibly a more detailed breakdown for the bigger cities.

I can already imagine how much more time I will be spending on SSP if we sticky...

Well how much posts would there be? Do we want a tonne of stickies at the top when one will do? All of Northern Ontario has one and it works fine. Mansack minus it's three cities has just as many people as us.

I voted no, but I'm neither here nor there. I voted no simply because it is/will be a hihly inactive thread.

I thought about that too. Of course it won't be as active as any of the other stickies, but there are other justifications for stickying a thread.

We sticky things to draw attention, and to place importance upon a specific discussion or theme.

There is more to Manitoba than Winnipeg, just as there is more to Saskatchewan than Saskatoon and Regina.

Okay, let's create one sticky thread for Development in Manitoba and Saskatchewan outside of the larger cities.

I'd prefer a more concise title though...

Development in Manitoba and Saskatchewan outside of the larger cities
Development Outside Larger Cities
Smaller Cities & Towns, & Northern Development
Rural & Northern Development

Other title submissions? Just so ya know, we're going to have a poll to select the winning submission...winning submission is awarded Manitoba and Saskatchewan moderator title for one week...

j/k...or was I?

Not sure about a combined thread. Might end up a little confusing, but if thats what people want so be it.

I would still prefer two seperate threads.

Thunder Bay, Ontario

Just put the name of the community in the title thread, like I did here. Or at least mention it.

The Northern Ontario construction thread is covering the same amount of people in a similar area with larger cities, and we have no real problems. We can get who is posting about what by the content of the post.

I voted yes, but I know I will regret this when I see threads about suburban sprawl.

I don't think so for Manitoba - there isn't enough happening to warrant a sticky - a thread is good, but it would be so rarely update it, why bother sticking it.

if it was updated regularly, why stick it, it will be near the top anyway like the bomber thread etc....

I'm not in favour of loads of stickies

^I disagree. There is plenty happening. However, they are all nothing to write home about and nobody on this forum to tell us about them.

(There is a new shoppers drug mart in Brandon, and I believe a proposed expansion of the Shopper's Mall. Downtown is seeing some revitalization with an new group similar to Winnipeg's Centreventure. Maple Leaf is expanding again due to the closures in Winnipeg...)

Saying that why have any threads as stickies? The top three or four threads in this section are stickies, and are update n a regular basis. One or two more threads stickied wouldn't make any difference.

I don't really care too much about new gas bars opening in Minnedosa or Wal-marts in Winkler.

I'm not against a seperate thread for activity in rural Manitoba / Saskatchewan.

I just can't imagine it being very active,
