Downtown is really coming along now, it won't be long until things are very different.

Thanks for the shots of the Civic Space park progress HX. One question, and I used to know the answer, remind me again please....how tall is the Janet Echelman wind art sculpture supposed to be? Something sticks in my mind as 160 ft, is that right?

Yea that's what I remember. It was never actually said...but I remember reading that it should stand 60' tall and hang 100' above the ground...so I'm thinking that meant 160' total, not 100' total (40' above the ground).

And yea, downtown is definitely chanings. Just the amount of restaurant opening is amazing, especially in northern downtown, and I have a feel ASU is a big part of the reason.

The restaurants opening up is so awesome. I can't wait until Jan '09 when light rail opens up and a lot of the projects are online. The sign at the civic space park says it is supposed to open in March '09. Any chance they have it open by December when light rail is finished? I thought their original plans were to be done in November '08... maybe (hopefully) the sign says opening March '09 so when they finish "early" the public will be happy.

I didn't notice this picture the first time around, but it's pretty cool. The Sheraton looks good, the construction is cool, and the side of the old building and the mountain on either side looks good.

Great as always HX.
Glad you got inside that old art gallery building. The trusses rock.
I wonder if anyone knows, is ASU going to strip the paint off of the exterior of the building or have it painted?
Nice to see you got inside 44 Monroe lobby too.

That Irish bar seems like the design will be awesome. Kind of has a Nazi Buddha influence there huh?
Great updates on everything. You sure wake up early!!

The light in the 1st Cityscape pic is awesome.
The backdrop of Civic Park pics are great...
I think that park is in the most perfect location imaginable. It seems so much more "Central" in Downtown than PSP was (too far South).

I am curious to see how Grace is planning to move forward on Hotel Moroe if their financing is out of line. That happens to be one of the things I am looking forward to the most in Downtown Phoenix, the opening of Hotel Monroe.

Haha...that's Sens, not the Irish bar. I take you didn't read the captions?

/\ I think he just took a picture through the security door at the art gallery. The regular doors were probably open.

Yes, the security door was locked and the regular door was open...the security door is just metal bars.

As for 44 Monroe, the picture was taken through the glass outside.
