Tower, these stats seam to suggest otherwise, Quebec had a net losses of 14,444 in 2007 (2nd highest in the country, after Ontario). Surprisingly Quebec's largest net loss (-6,027) was to Alberta (vs -4,905 to Ontario, 2nd). Given Manitoba vibrant french community and well rounded economy, is it not reasonable to assume that Manitoba is an attractive option, if Quebec continues to falter.

Greco-Roman, Not everybody outside of Manitoba hates Manitoba, I'm quite sure many here look forward to Manitoba's success. As a native Albertan, I and many others in Alberta have invested in both Sask and Manitoba real estate (with good reason, I might add). But keep barking up that tree, maybe you can change people's opinion.

For what its worth, there is a sizeable number of Nova Scotia expats in Manitoba/Winnipeg, and the interprovincial net migration numbers back this up.

That is odd moving Quebec to AB I think. There isn't much of a French community in AB, and the "culture shock" in Alberta would likely be great for Quebecers. My wife worked for a company based in Calgary, but had staff in Montreal as well, and everytime they came out, they had a love/hate time with the city.

Then again, I also worked with two folks travelling from Montreal a few years ago in Winnipeg (while I was travelling from here), and when I tried bragging that St Boniface was one of the largest "true" French communities in the west, she just turned up her nose...oh well. Anyway, less of a culture shock impact in MB anyway.

Quebeckers move there for the money and jobs, just like everyone else.

Language and culture take a back seat.

Culture shock from Quebec to Alberta? Maybe from Quebec to Lagos, but not to Alberta. Differences yes, culture shock I'd have to dissagree.

Okay, "culture shock" might've been the wrong term...but, you know what I mean. Alberta is far different than Quebec in a lot of ways, and I was just thinking might be more of an adjustment than MB? Maybe not - likely will never know since I'm not from Quebec...I was just guessing.
