Of course it's like the one at Jordan Landing, it's located in suburban Phoenix. This development, however, will be located on one block in the downtown core, so it isn't like they'll be the exact same. However, I like the look of the development and I believe it could work in this area.

Also, note their plans for the area and you'll see it's far more urban than what's there right now. The parking around Westgate will be filled with offices, retail and residential.

I agree Comrade. This parcel is not that large and the developers will have to create a far more dense, compact project. I don't see how else they could and make a real return on their money.

Agreed, The whole idea of it having to be far more dense, and compact a project makes it that much more attractive. I'm very anxious to see changes along that 5th and 6th south corridor.

Completely off subject, and just a pipe dream, but wouldn't this be fun?! A Disney Land in Salt Lake City Utah! Technically this would be in North Salt Lake, but I thought I'd put it on this thread anyway. It'd be much better than the current refinery!! BTW, this isn't for real, I just got bored.

There could also be a gondola or tram from the Utah Adventure Park to the top of one of the mountains above Salt Lake City:

I can't wait to see the development that will unfold along No. Temple as a result of TRAX. That street is a 'gold mine' waiting to happen. Another exciting part will be the newly remolded ramp and connection to 4th West.

The historic Pierpont Building, which is actually two connected buildings, has been purchased.Ashley Lowery, Deseret News

Let's hope it wont be another private club. Is it just me or does there seem to be too many private clubs around?

Main street x 2

I think trax to the airport is a great idea, but i don't know if it will bring development to north temple. people riding trax will be using it to go from the airport to the hotel in downtown. besides people using to go to the fair and the local that are already. Look at main street if trax was all you need to save a street Main street should be hopping. I have a theory that trax killed main street. 4th south was able to survive because people can still driving on it and not stop every half block and make left hand turns. I'm not saying I dont like trax I'm just saying its not stimulus its always made out to be. Hopefully I'm wrong and 10 development are put along north temple!

While I definitely agree that it won't happen overnight, I would be suprised if we didn't see some TOD's pop up on No Temple in direct correlation. There are definitely a lot of places where this has already happened and happening (suprisingly fast too!).
Just look at the intermodal hub, 13th s with the new added density, 21st s (market station, central point), 33rd and 39th with China town, Fireclay and even 7200; they have huge plans across from trax.

I know I'm not mentioning all of them but do you think that it's a coincidence that ALL of these projects are located right next to TRAX stations?

Rip off land.

Utah's skiing is the Disneyland for all of us who love skiing and winter sports.

As an aside, I watched the KSL clip above about the Trax line to SLC International. It said that SLC will pay $35 million towards the project. Isn't that about the cost of two engine cars that Trax uses?

Where is the other huge cost amount really coming from?

OR as a "duh" on my part; is that their design contribution?

Also, in Davis County with the development of the Farmington Station at the Frontrunner station there. I think that this will be the first of many developments along this line as well.

Because of the liquor laws in Utah all bars are called private clubs... it's not because they want to be private clubs. There is currently a discussion going on to change that and simply have bars.

Every club in Salt Lake is private, its the law. Any bar and club, from what I know has to be a private club and you have to be a member to get in. I think if we want downtown to really grow, then its time to get rid of this law, IMO

There is a very strong movement right now to do away with the archaic club laws. This also includes strong support for change from the Gov.'s office. I predict the laws will be mainstreamed before the completion of CCC. Actually, a lot sooner than that.

I thought this was pretty awesome. Its the up to date campus master plan. I really like the student life center and idea with the fields.

This is a bit older one, but it give a great vision of the student life center. It takes Ohio States as a model, it would be awesome to get one of them up on campus.

It looks like they really want the U to mirror Ohio State

Ohio State's Student Life Center

wikipedia

This is a link to the most up to date plan. It also give a view of Project Universe that we have been hearing about. Again planning off Ohio States campus gateway.
