Thanks K, I've been out of the state for a few days and was wondering what the color scheme was looking like.

I'll be glad when they fill in the last small light "gap" on 360.

No, no, no. The Governor's Mansion block is now going to be a Wal-Mart.

I hope it's one of those cool urban Wal-marts like they're building at the old North Cross mall site.

Whoa, I heard a Best Buy, Home Depot, Petsmart, Bed Bath and Beyond shopping complex (along with Starbucks) had out bid the Walmart!

The 'McMansion' ordinance won't allow the Governor's Mansion to be rebuilt.

Thanks for those Kevin. Every time I am downtown at night, none of that is ever going on. Monarch looks like something you'd see in Miami.

I love the Monarch lighting I think its beautiful. Definatly something Austin has never had in lighting before.

It is a shame about the Governor's Mansion. I can't believe that there were no security guards patroling the grounds. You would think that there would seeing is how it is a national landmark as well as a tourist destination.

Oh, but I thought the article in the Statesman said there were guards! Yikes!

I love the nighttime Monarch photos! I wish the skyline had more colored lights at night. I wonder if 100 Congress will bring back the red white and blue lighting scheme they had last summer.

BTW, does anyone remember a Christmas about 20 years ago when they used colored lights at One American Center? The upper floors of the shortest part of the building were bathed in green lights, the upper floors in the middle section were bathed in white lights (like now) and the upper floors of the tallest part were bathed in red lights.

Just in the year 2008 alone, Austin has transformed into something entirely different! The skyline lighting at night a year ago wouldn't even compare to what it is now... The additions of the Monarch and 360 have made a HUGE impact alone themselves!

And imagine how different it will be when we have Spring and Austonian and Four Seasons and Altavida and W added to the skyline. We'll hardly recognize the place.

And then add Green and T. Stacey and 21C further down the road. It's really astounding.

Another 2008 addition... the green neon from AMLI II also stands out quite a bit.

It's amazing how the nighttime skyline has been transformed in the last month with the lighting of 360, AMLI and now Monarch. It's very impressive when driving north on Mopac and the skyline comes in view at Zilker park and then unfolds when crossing Lady Bird Lake.

I experienced this tonight. It seems you can feel the energy from downtown!

A favorite view of mine of the skyline is driving down the upper deck of I-35 heading South from around the 38th 1/2 Street exit. The 360 sticks out well. I haven't driven down it at night in a while, maybe the Monarch is visible from there too.
