This area is going to look fantastic when this all said and done. In a few years we'll hardly recognize it.

Wow the cambie photos look great.

Not so happy about the No. 3 Rd redesign anymore. They basically forgot about the bike lanes (notice I didn't even say raised) halfway on the southbound side.

drove down no.3 road this afternoon. i must say i'm amazed by how narrow they are making the lanes. i mean, if there's a bus driving down the outside lane, you'd better have balls if you want to pass it on the other lane. yes, it's that narrow. and yeah, with lanes like that, i'm not sure the bike lane will be all that safe to ride down. i'm not sure why they didn't put some separation between it and the road.

Looking good... I keep thinking about this project as a P3 compared to the boondoggle that is the Convention Centre (at least in terms of cost and timelines). Is this accurate or did we get lucky with this P3?

With all the businesses that closed or moved, it's harder to recognize already.

It's a 35 year operating agreement after construction.

Some crazy pictures of Toronto's new subway cars:

Too bad the Canada Line trains don't look like anything like that....I much prefer the red look as the brand of the line, rather than a blue/green logo and with that blue/green paint at the front of the trains.

The blue/green should've been saved for the Evergreen Line. Red would be a much better choice. See if we went with Bombardier, at least we would have crazy bright trains - ours is so dim and depressing O_O"

More yellow poles on our Canada Line trains would have helped, I don't like the reflection poles they used for the interior. The dull look, which is used on our Mark II's and in Toronto's new trains, is much better. I also like Toronto's seating arrangement much better, and they also have overhead bars....something we don't have.

I couldn't agree more about the choice of blue/green, it should've been saved for the Evergreen Line......red would be have been perfect for "Canada Line". If only we had called it the "Olympic Line"....

With regards to lighting, I don't have a problem with it. It's probably just the camera.

I forgot about that - yeah it does look ugly. Also notice the curvature on the polls: look at ours - boxy. Sigh... Curves look better = Mark IIs =P

I believe their system map on the trains are LED similar to the Hong Kong ones:

I better hope that's the case. The Athens ones you posted before weren't all that bright either. I think the lighting is very important this time especially since most of the line is underground. I'm 100% sure the Mark IIs are brighter.

~~~~~
Let's just hope they get the route maps right. I can't understand why they would go with a blue/green logo and then do a red route line [map] -_-"
Did I also mention that I wished we had doors that slide on the outside, rather than pocket doors?
The Mark II's aren't THAT bright. It might have the appearance that it seems brighter since they use normal lights and give that yellowish glow inside the train, but the fluorescent lights on the Canada Line trains give the same lighting effect you'd see in a newly built hospital - very bright and "white light":
Athens Rotem
Notice the dull bars, bright lighting, and better (and vandal and dirt resistant seat pattings):
Hmmm yeah I guess so. Yes we need to get rid of the gray bars and white chairs. Yes I don't like pocket doors either, we could've had larger windows. *snaps*
