I dont think it is pollution - most probably just sediment from the Fraser River. When you look at some satellite shots, you can see that the runofffrom the North Arm sometimes curls around UBC and washes back into English bay/burrard inlet.

That's quite normal, yet amazing as well - how it just stops in the middle of nowhere.

Yangtze River (obviously, some pollution is shown)

i was boating near harrison mills and i was amazed by the same type of water colors combination where the waters of the fraser river meets up with the waters of the harrison lake/river.

harrison water was crystal blue and the heavily sedimented waters of fraser looked absolutely gross

Glass is being added to the fins on the east side of the tower.

They've put a whole row of glass on the east side fin...it seems to look more clear than the glass on the rest of the tower, but that could just be because of the sun.

Pic of the glass up top taken my me today June 5, 2008.
BTW - anyone know if the other crane is just for dismantling the big crane, or is it a permanent window washing crane - like the one on Park Place?

I suspect it's for window washing since it would make sense to avoid suspending washers/equipment from the fins. If that's the case, I hope it folds up or something because it's quite noticeable from afar- kind of like 1500 Alberni (the pink tower with the fixed window washing arm on top).

Looks like the end of the arm extends and retracts (I wonder if the whole thing also lowers bit?) - but it certainly adds "height" to the tower!!
Does that make it a 200m tower?

BTW - The Melville has operable windows in its "sail" to allow window washers to climb through (which Shangri-La doesn't seem to have based on the thickness of the mullions).

That thing is hideous....if it doesn't go lower, the least they could have done would be to have more glass on the top.
